The McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Red Blend is a captivating wine that represents the spirit and resilience of black women. This unique blend is a combination of Zinfandel, Merlot, and Syrah grapes, resulting in a rich and bold flavor profile. The aroma of this red blend is enticing, with notes of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, complemented by hints of vanilla and spice. On the palate, the wine delivers a luscious and velvety texture, with flavors of ripe berries, dark chocolate, and a touch of oak. What sets this wine apart is not only its exceptional taste but also its empowering message. The name "Black Girl Magic" celebrates the strength, beauty, and magic exuded by black women.

In about 5% horses it is not possible to correct their problem, and these patients are put to sleep on the operating table. However the majority of patients have their abdominal wound closed with strong sutures and are moved back into the padded room to come around from the anaesthetic. This begins one of the most risky periods for the horse. As part of the recovery process a tired and very sick animal, often weighing 500-700kg, must get itself up. Since colic surgery can be a relatively long procedure often lasting between 1.5-3 hours, the horse’s muscle can be weak, and the horse is often scared and uncoordinated. The veterinary team will maintain a dark quiet environment and will assist the horse to stand using ropes attached to the head and tail, but severe injuries can still happen.

To counteract this, the trapped fluid is syphoned off from the stomach using a long tube passed down the nose, and medicines to stimulate the intestines to contract are given. They are responsible for maintaining the horse at the correct depth of anaesthetic not so light that they are at risk of starting to wake up or feeling pain, and not so deep that the health of the vital organs might be compromised.

What are your favorite and least favorite magical horses? Why?

My favorites are Heidrun and Fawncy. I think their magical coats are the most “realistic”, of them all. Horses with cloven feet and/or horns have been depicted in art throughout human history. I also really enjoy how their non-magical coat is only a slight deviation from their magical selves. They are “subtle” magical horses IMO. Although I’m not usually a fan of the curly horse model, or the Andalusians, I love them here. I feel like these magic horses are what my “ideal” magic horses would be like.

My least favorites have got to be Tellina, Kampos, and the dragon horses. I think the idea of aquatic horses was amazing… but I wish they could be used to swim places (like it was teased in their trailer). I’m not a fan of the bright colors they chose, and I have a personal dislike for the akle-teke model. The dragon horses just don’t look right without wings IMO. Obviously that would have introduced the idea of flying horses, which I don’t think SSO will ever take on. They just look disproportionate with the huge neck and scrawny tails. Not to mention… the Jorvik Frisian animations.

One of my other pet peeves with the newer magical horses is their “magical” eyes remaining on their non-magical coats. (See Birkir & Hanami). I don’t want a horse with green zombie eyes, sorry! I loved Birkir’s non-magical coat a lot, and I don’t own a Mawari. I thought I was gonna get Birkir for sure, until I saw the non-magical eyes…

What do you guys think? Do you like magical horses at all? What do you want to see more/less of with magical horses going forward?

Reviews for "Unlocking the Charms: McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Red Blend"

1. John - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Red Blend. The flavor was very overpowering and artificial, with a strange aftertaste that lingered. The wine lacked complexity and depth, making it feel like a cheap imitation. I was expecting a smooth and balanced red blend, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.
2. Sarah - 1 star - This wine was a big letdown. The McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Red Blend had an unpleasant metallic taste that I just couldn't get past. The flavors were muddied and the overall experience was underwhelming. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good red wine. There are far better options out there for the same price point.
3. Michael - 2 stars - The McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Red Blend had a strange combination of flavors that didn't work well together. It was overly sweet and lacked the complexity I was expecting from a red blend. It almost tasted like someone had mixed several different wines together without much thought. I appreciate the concept behind the brand, but unfortunately, this particular wine didn't impress me.
4. Emily - 2 stars - I was really excited to try the McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Red Blend, but it didn't live up to the hype. The wine had a strong alcohol taste that overpowered any other flavors. It lacked balance and finesse, leaving a harsh aftertaste. I've had better red blends at a lower price point, so I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone looking for a quality wine.
