About the Author : Lana Harper is the New York Times bestselling author of the Witches of Thistle Grove series, including Payback’s a Witch , From Bad to Cursed , and Back in Spell . Writing as Lana Popović, she has also written four YA novels about modern-day witches and historical murderesses. Born in Serbia, Lana grew up in Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria before moving to the US, where she studied psychology and literature at Yale University, law at Boston University, and publishing at Emerson College. She lives in Chicago, where she spends most of her time plotting witchy stories and equally witchy tattoos.

1. John Smith - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with "Spiders and Magic". The plot felt disjointed and all over the place, making it difficult to follow and stay engaged. The characters were one-dimensional and lacked depth, making it hard to connect or care about their struggles. Additionally, the writing style was clunky and repetitive, which further hindered my enjoyment of the book. Overall, I found it to be a lackluster read that didn't live up to its potential.

2. Emily Johnson - 3/5 - "Spiders and Magic" had an interesting premise, but it ultimately fell short for me. The pacing was slow, especially in the middle portion of the book, which made it a struggle to stay engaged. I also found the world-building to be lacking in detail, leaving me feeling disconnected from the story. While there were some moments of excitement and magic, they were overshadowed by the overall lackluster execution. I wanted to enjoy this book more than I did, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations.

3. Sarah Thompson - 2/5 - I found "Spiders and Magic" to be an underwhelming read. The main character was unlikeable and difficult to root for, which made it hard for me to invest in the story. The dialogue felt forced and unnatural, lacking authenticity. Additionally, the romance subplot felt rushed and forced, and I couldn't find myself invested in it. Overall, the book lacked depth and failed to capture my attention. I wouldn't recommend it to others looking for a captivating fantasy read.
