As much fun as kids will have with the slapstick, Home Alone -like humor of the pets outsmarting the selfish nephew, parents will appreciate the scenes between Lawrence and his two new friends, themselves bored patients looking to make a new friend. A young cat gets dumped by his owners and makes its way to an eerie Victorian mansion where Lawrence, a retired magician, lives with a collection of pets and mechanical toys.

Thunder and the House of Magic review: An animated adventure for your Halloween family movie night

Thunder and the House of Magic is a movie that is fortunate enough to have had enough worldwide success to be receiving a U.S. release on DVD and Blu-ray, available exclusively at Wal-Mart. For a Halloween family movie night, this film is a good choice, as long as parents consider the pros and cons of the movie below.

What it’s about: Thunder is an abandoned kitty who finds solace in the enchanted house of a retired magician Lawrence, a sweet and kindly man who immediately adopts the cat and names him Thunder after a raging storm outside. Yet when the magician winds up in the hospital, his greedy nephew threatens to sell the house and thus destroy everything Lawrence holds dear. Thunder must do everything in his power to help his new owner.

What I loved: Lawrence’s automatons and mechanical toys take on a magical life of their own, and of course the animals have just to much to say in Thunder and the House of Magic as humans. The animation is spectacular in many scenes, throwing the viewer right in the middle of the action. The details in the old Victorian mansion are glorious. This is especially impressive considering the film’s low budget. Thunder is a sweet and gentle central character that will appeal to younger children.

What I didn’t love: For some reason, many of the supporting human characters (and a chihuahua) are unfortunately stereotypes, i.e., the African-American church lady, the big lugs with the Boston accent. At times the actor’s reading of the lines seem canned, as if they didn’t discover the heart of the characters. This may be because the film was recorded in multiple languages, which can also explain some of the moments where it’s apparent the script wasn’t written by a native English speaker. Finally, the “D-word” is unnecessarily inserted four times, not something that parents of young children (this one included) are going to love. This again may be an issue of translation, as the “D-word” in French could have a milder connotation.

The story of the abandoned cat whose cruel owner dumps him when they move house. Alone and unprotected the lovely cat faces a difficult challenge for survival and as he wanders the streets manages to enter a house that had already other animals in it as well as various gadgets. The owner embraces him instantly but some of the other guests are reluctant to accept him and so he has to earn their trust. The opportunity to do so will come as a wicked nephew wants to sell the house. An appealing story combined with high quality visuals, giving us an angle of the world from the point of view of a small animal. Various themes are involved such as abandonment, new beginnings, fitting in and proving oneself. When it comes to protecting our home, one better not underestimate the determination of even the smallest of opponents. It will surely delight children without leaving the adults unimpressed either.

Well firstly I love animated movies. I was thinking to watch a movie but I did not know about any movie that is running in cinema hall but I think I have to book my ticket to this movie. After reading this post it seems that it is a good movie to watch with family.

I had a terrible experience at Magif spa Simpsonville. The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. The massage was mediocre at best and I left feeling even more tense and sore than when I arrived. The spa itself was not well-maintained and had a strange odor. I would not recommend wasting your time or money here.

I was really disappointed with the services at Magif spa Simpsonville. The massage therapist was not skilled and seemed to be just going through the motions. The ambiance was also lacking, with loud noises from the adjacent rooms and poor lighting. I left feeling unsatisfied and will not be returning.

I had high hopes for Magif spa Simpsonville but was let down by the overall experience. The receptionist was unorganized and had trouble managing appointments, resulting in a delay in starting my treatment. The massage itself was average at best, and I didn't feel any real improvement in my muscle tension. The spa lacked a relaxing atmosphere and felt more clinical than inviting. I won't be giving this place a second chance.
