I have been an "Uncle Kobold" for a long time now. There is no way I couldn't consider this, and after a good look, I am in!

I am pleased that development on this project is front loaded (meaning the work is mostly done), so timely release is assured.

It is also affordable. A modest donation gets the PDF and all the stretch goal additions, which I hope there are many.

Yeah, I think this one is going to be BIG! The Kickstarter has only been live for a few hours and already it has over 100 backers and it's 2/3 of the way to the funding goal! That's pretty fantastic! Heck, most folks on the West Coast haven't even logged onto their computers yet :)

The reeeaaaally exciting thing is going to be once that funding goal is reached and the stretch goals start to be released - i.e. the Goal Scroll starts to unfurl :) Trust me, there are lots of REALLY AWESOME stretch goals on that Goal Scroll.

I would assume they are to integrate and compliment Paizo's Mythic Rules, which also contains mythic spells (but primarily well known spells from the Core Rules).

Yep, the mythic spells are designed using Paizo's new mythic rules. Essentially, we've included mythic versions of some of the spells Kobold Press has published in the past as well as all-new spells that have mythic and greater mythic components.

I have another question, did you have access to a final version of the Mythic Rules or are the mythic spells you are making based on the playtest?

It is not just you. :) This is going fantastic, and I can say, with certainty, that it's going to get better. :D

Sure, roughly speaking, the custom spellbooks are planned as softcover or selfcover format (depending on printer and what seems to work). There's no cover art for them beyond your wizard's mark and the title in an appropriate style. Interior page treatment can be either pure white with a rune or two, or it can follow the Deep Magic page treatment (which you can see in rough form on the Kickstarter page).

These spellbooks can make a good personalized reference for your own character, or they make an awesome handout to a wizard PC: "You find this spellbook; here you go."

The illuminated scrolls will be at least 8.5 by 11 inches, and (if you choose a long and wordy spell) possibly 11 by 17 or 8.5 by 22. You might need to roll it up, in other words. The calligraphy will be done by someone who teaches calligraphy in Seattle and has done hundreds of professional jobs, from straightforward wedding invites to art pieces, logos, and Biblical quotes. She does three hands that work for this sort of thing: a Carolingian miniscule, a slanted Gothic, and a copperplate.

The dragon's blood ink and gold leaf are for accents; the wax seal is one I have that works well, and I have a somewhat flexible, modern wax that won't crack and fall off. We might not use oak gall for the black because of how acidic it is (usually better for vellum). Paper likely to be a heavy cream stock that takes ink cleanly; I'm really leaving that up to the calligrapher, because the wrong paper makes the work a chore.
