A key difference between Walt Disney Worlds attendance versus Disneyland is the demographic. Disneyland tends to be more of a “locals park” than Walt Disney World. Both have a lot of tourists and locals, but Disneyland seems to attract those relatively close to the park. The Magic Key passes would be utilized far more often that Disney would like. If they do let people renew I have to wonder if they will ramp up the black out times to try and force people to buy tickets.

This ranks up there with the CFO Christine McCarthy saying that smaller portion sizes to offset costs which is probably good for some people s waistlines. For weeks, those pass holders have been begging Disneyland for information on how to renew their passes, since Disneyland had stopped selling all tiers of Magic Key months ago.

Disneyland Magic Key Passholders Feel Slighted By “Unfavorable Attendance Mix” Comment

The Walt Disney Company had their Q3 shareholder call on August 8. During the call it was mentioned that there were financial gains made in theme parks. They saw an “increase in average per capita ticket revenue,” likely due the Genie+ and Lighting Lane upcharges. However, they claimed that the positives were “partially offset by an unfavorable attendance mix at Disneyland Resort.” Many feel that they mean the Magic Key Passholders because it was in regards to per capita ticket revenue. Magic Key holders don’t buy individual tickets. The fact that they haven’t allowed Magic Key passholders a chance to renew yet is also concerning to many. Those that bought their passes early would have their year run out the end of August.

Why get people to pay once when you can make them pay multiple times? It’s the new Disney difference.

Magic Key Holders feel personally attacked by the comment, and I can understand why.

This ranks up there with the CFO Christine McCarthy saying that smaller portion sizes to offset costs “which is probably good for some people’s waistlines.” People are not happy and have taken to social media sites like Twitter to vent their frustration.

#Disney might also note declining “magic” at the parks w/staff only partly trained before being shoved out into their jobs.
Also Magic Key holders snap up dining reservations & merch instantly, so doubt that excuse. #Disneyland https://t.co/v60uO1boCa

I would agree that this is likely not true. Locals come in for events and new merchandise and food items. It’s usually passholders at Disney parks that have bags full of merchandise to list on third party auction sites. What they aren’t doing is staying in the ridiculously overpriced resort hotels and they aren’t buying three meals a day.

Every time we go to #Disneyland as an annual pass/Magic Key member we spend $$$ on parking, meals, drinks, and snacks. Without us, Disneyland could not bounce back from the pandemic or even survive. That’s a fact. #MagicKey #DisneyParks

Wow everyone, I’m really fed up with the way we were treated at the call yesterday.

I’m going to cut up my Magic Key!

Wait… we never got physical passes.

If I use my magic key to go to Disneyland once per week my entry fee would be around $23. Of course they don’t want me there lol 😶

I am not local to Anaheim, I live in Vegas. When I use my Magic Key at Disney, I spend quite a bit of $.
Nice to know my $$ is “unfavorable” https://t.co/wlYSo3dxqm

Perhaps the “Unfavorable Attendance Mix” is not Magic Key:Tickets but the TYPES of MKs. Saturdays seem to be the lightest attended days because lower keys are blocked out. They need to unblock more dates.

so according to disney’s ceo magic key holders don’t bring in enough money to the parks. excuse me but i spend $50-$100 on drinks & food on each visit 🤔🫠 the key holders i know are doing the same🖕🏻just let us renew our keys already!

I’m at such a low point rn I don’t even care if Disney let’s me renew my magic key or not. I’m tired. I’m done.

I love how people are taking the initiative to cash in on the unfortunate wording. Disney would if they could!
An AP style magnet would be a great product.

People are very fed up. Disney keeps alienating their core audience.
