A Magical Evening - The 2nd Annual Bay Area Ignite the Fight Event
On August 27th, Jerry and Leslie Behar graciously hosted the Bay Area’s Pink Ribbon Girls Ignite the Fight event in their exquisite gardens. The evening was filled with a delicious dinner catered by La Bocca Fina and amazing speakers including Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian, Impact Seat Foundation CEO Cheryl Contee as well as PRG National Board Members Sharyl Gardner and Dipti Mathur.
Anais Arriaga, a Pink Ribbon Girls client diagnosed with breast cancer at 29, inspired the crowd by sharing her story and Christian Salazar gave all in attendance a glimpse of what it’s like to have your parent diagnosed with cancer when you’re just a little kid.
We were truly blessed to have 20 of our Bay Area survivors in attendance to share the evening with us and serve as a powerful reminder of what the evening is all about.
Another highlight of the evening was when our tiny but mighty Director of Growth and Strategy, Julie Arnheim, walked to the podium to speak after sustaining severe injuries as a result of being hit by a car just six weeks prior to the event. She’s unstoppable!
We are so grateful to everyone who helped us raise over $350,000 that evening so that Pink Ribbon Girls can continue to ensure that our Bay Area clients and their families fighting breast and gynecological cancers will not travel this road alone. We will be with them offering vital support including free healthy meals, rides to treatment, house-cleaning essentials, peer support and education.
