Silly and enjoyable, but not entirely innocent

This anime has a fun and original storyline. The characters are all distinct and enjoyable, and while the anime may take place in a school of magic, you'd be hasty to jot it down as a Harry Potter rip-off. This anime does have a few cuss words in it. It's mostly for that reason that I wouldn't recommend it for super small children - at least, not those scenes. It also has some cartoon violence, sword fights (not gory), large-scale magical monster fights, quirky (maybe scary to younger kids) characters, alchemy use. There's an episode or two with hints of interchangeable gender kissing, hugging, advances, and cheesy pickup lines which might just be written off as funny to a kid, or fly over their head conceptually. My main concern would be, for a very young kid (ages 3-8 or so?) they might have trouble staying interested in some parts. The anime does display action and silly scenes more often than not, but it also has some slower more sober scenes with story being told. Overall the art style and the animation is very captivating. It's funny, unique, and riveting at times. If it meets your criteria, give it a watch! (First episode came out in 2013, the rest around 2017, so expect some slight saturation increase and art changes from episode 1 to 2).

I really didn't enjoy "The Witch Monster". The plot was incredibly confusing and hard to follow. The characters were one-dimensional and lacked depth, making it difficult to connect with them. Additionally, the pacing was too slow, and the film didn't live up to its horror genre. Overall, I was disappointed with this movie and would not recommend it.
2. Mike - 1/5 stars -
"The Witch Monster" was a complete waste of time. The acting was abysmal, and the dialogue was cringe-worthy. The special effects were laughable, and it was clear that the movie had a low budget. The story was predictable, and there were no real scares. Save your money and skip this one.

I had high hopes for "The Witch Monster" but was ultimately let down. The storyline had potential, but it was executed poorly. The movie relied too heavily on jump scares and lacked any genuine suspense or atmosphere. The dialogue felt forced, and the acting was subpar. I was disappointed with how predictable the plot twists were, and overall, it wasn't a memorable horror film.
4. Ryan - 2/5 stars -
"The Witch Monster" had an interesting concept, but it fell flat. The characters were unlikable, and their actions seemed unrealistic. The pacing was off, with long stretches of nothing happening followed by rushed and confusing scenes. The ending left me unsatisfied and confused. While the cinematography was decent, it wasn't enough to make up for the film's shortcomings. I wouldn't watch it again.
