The story revolves around a young girl named Tea who discovers her unique ability to raise the dead. This act catches the attention of a powerful bone witch, who takes her under her wing and trains her in the art of necromancy. Willow is convinced that the only way to find a true home is to travel the world, but her plans to act on her dream are put on hold when her mother drags her to Salem, Massachusetts, to wrap up the affairs of an aunt who may or may not have been a witch. There, she meets Mason, a loner who’s felt out of place his entire life. Naturally pulled to one another, Willow and Mason set out across Salem to discover the secret past of Willow’s family.

People in badly written fantasy stories will usually talk about the major historical events of their world and how magic has affected the lives of everyone, but ask a person in the real world to describe the effects of WWI and the invention of the combustion engine on modern life and they d probably couldn t tell you. Reviews for "The Bone Witch: A Tale of Loyalty, Power, and Dark Magic"

- Sarah - 2/5 stars - I really wanted to like "The Bone Witch" because the concept of a dark fantasy world intrigued me. However, I found the pacing to be incredibly slow and it took forever for any significant plot development to occur. The main character, Tea, was also quite frustrating. I understand that she was meant to be a complex and conflicted character, but her actions and decisions often didn't make sense to me. Overall, the book had potential, but it fell flat for me in terms of execution.
- John - 1/5 stars - "The Bone Witch" was a major disappointment for me. The world-building felt half-baked and it was difficult for me to fully immerse myself in the story. I also didn't connect with any of the characters, particularly Tea. She lacked depth and I didn't find her journey compelling. Additionally, the constant switching between past and present timelines was confusing and disrupted the flow of the narrative. I struggled to finish this book and I don't think I'll be continuing with the series.
- Lisa - 2.5/5 stars - I had high hopes for "The Bone Witch" but it didn't live up to my expectations. While the concept was interesting, I found the writing to be overly descriptive and dense. It took away from the story and made it difficult for me to fully engage with the plot and the characters. Furthermore, the romantic subplot felt forced and didn't add much to the overall story. I could see the potential in this book, but unfortunately, it didn't deliver for me.
