The Amityville Curse refers to a series of unfortunate events that allegedly plagued those associated with the infamous Amityville haunting. The haunting gained widespread attention in the 1970s when the Lutz family moved into a house in Amityville, New York, where a gruesome murder had taken place the previous year. According to the Lutz family, they experienced disturbing paranormal activity during their short stay in the house. They claimed to have witnessed strange odors, levitating objects, footsteps, and visions of ghostly figures. The events were so terrifying that the Lutz family fled the house after just 28 days. The Amityville Curse suggests that anyone who becomes involved with the Amityville house or its story will be affected by malevolent forces.
Didnt have high hopes for revisiting this. for the longest time this was my least favorite Amityville movie—I’d even skip it during my amityville marathons. but it popped up on prime in HD (I think?) so I said sure. why the hell not? I’m not gonna lie, I was totally involved for the first act of this movie. the mood was solid and I was digging it’s collection of stupid characters. I was kinda surprised? Kinda falls apart afterward with iffy pacing and not enough of the good stuff I look for in this whacky movies. Definitely a weaker entry (if not the weakest) in the original run of movies with the amityville moniker, but not the steaming shithouse pissfest movie I thought it was (there’s dtv amityville movies that make this look like The Shining), but still. it was a stupid enough time waster at 3am after an earthquake woke my ass up. Glad I gave it another look.
At least that is what we think within the presentation of The Amityville Curse an early 90 s continuation of the story that marks the fifth element in the series. Definitely a weaker entry if not the weakest in the original run of movies with the amityville moniker, but not the steaming shithouse pissfest movie I thought it was there s dtv amityville movies that make this look like The Shining , but still.
The Amityville Curse suggests that anyone who becomes involved with the Amityville house or its story will be affected by malevolent forces. This theory gained traction due to the subsequent tragedies that occurred in the lives of those connected to the house. One notable case is that of Ronald DeFeo Jr.

, who was convicted of murdering his entire family in the Amityville house in 1974. DeFeo claimed that demonic voices compelled him to commit the gruesome act. Whether or not the Amityville haunting actually influenced DeFeo's actions remains a topic of debate. Another tragic event occurred in 1979 when an unsuspecting family, the Cromartys, purchased the Amityville house. Just 28 days after moving in, the father of the family, James Cromarty, passed away from natural causes. While this event may be coincidental, it further fueled the idea of a curse associated with the house. Subsequent owners also reported strange occurrences, including unexplained phenomena and inexplicable bouts of bad luck. These events only served to strengthen the belief in the Amityville Curse. While skeptics argue that the Amityville haunting was a hoax perpetrated by the Lutz family, the idea of a curse attached to the house has captured the public's imagination. Books, movies, and documentaries continue to explore the chilling events that unfolded in Amityville, ensuring that the Amityville Curse remains a subject of fascination for years to come..
Reviews for "The Amityville Curse: Supernatural Suspense and Thrills"
1. John - 1/5
I found "The Amityville Curse" to be extremely disappointing. The storyline was weak and predictable, and the acting was subpar at best. The horror elements were cliché and lacked any suspense or scares. It felt like a cheap attempt to capitalize on the success of the previous Amityville films without putting in any effort to create something original or engaging. I would not recommend wasting your time on this movie.
2. Sarah - 2/5
"The Amityville Curse" had potential, but it fell short in execution. The characters were one-dimensional, and it was hard to care about their fates. The pacing was sluggish, making the movie feel longer than it actually was. While there were a few eerie moments, they were overshadowed by the overall lack of scares. It's unfortunate because the Amityville franchise has had some great films, but this one missed the mark.
3. Mark - 1/5
I regret watching "The Amityville Curse." The plot was confusing, and I couldn't connect the dots between the different storylines. The dialogue was weak, and the acting made it worse. The film relied heavily on jump scares, but they felt forced and unoriginal, failing to create any real tension. Overall, this movie was a letdown and did not live up to the standards of the previous Amityville films.
4. Emily - 2/5
As a fan of the Amityville series, I was excited to watch "The Amityville Curse," but unfortunately, it fell flat. The story lacked depth and failed to provide any new insights into the Amityville haunting. The special effects were outdated, and the scares were predictable. It didn't have the same eerie atmosphere and suspense that the earlier films had. I would recommend giving this one a pass unless you're a die-hard Amityville fan.
