Secret Lair Black is Magic is a specially curated set of Magic: The Gathering cards featuring artwork by Black artists. This unique and powerful collection celebrates Black culture, history, and diversity within the Magic community. The Secret Lair Black is Magic set was released on February 2022, and it includes five cards that highlight different aspects of Black culture. Each card showcases stunning artwork and depicts a character, theme, or story tied to Black history and identity. The set features cards like "Toski, Bearer of Secrets," which showcases a majestic squirrel warrior inspired by African folklore. Another card, "Ranger Captain of Eos," depicts a heroic Black character who stands as a beacon of justice and strength.
Admission fees are only valid at the location in which they are purchased.
Food At The Magic House, the Picnic Basket Café offers meals and snacks that will cover most appetites, and they ve somehow got it down to a rapid-serve system. With their generous support, The Magic House, MADE for Kids is able to offer a variety of free admission opportunities to ensure that all children have the opportunity to visit this unique makerspace.
Another card, "Ranger Captain of Eos," depicts a heroic Black character who stands as a beacon of justice and strength. One of the stand-out cards in the set is "Oloro, Ageless Ascetic," which showcases a regal Black character with a powerful presence. St. Louis Public Library cardholders can check out a free pass to visit The Magic House, MADE for Kids. Families can borrow a membership to visit MADE for Kids for free through a partnership with the St. Louis Public Library. Visit your local Public Library branch to check out a pass, just like a book.
The St. Louis Public Library pass is valid for two adults and up to four children within one household
Field Trips
Thanks to generous grants from our supporters, eligible students can participate in the MADE for Kids school field trip program free of charge. Title 1 schools as well as schools with 50 percent or more students that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible to participate in this program free of charge. Youth Visits and Summer Camp Admission

I was really disappointed with the Secret Lair Black is Magic. The artwork and card design were lackluster compared to previous Secret Lair sets. The special black and white versions of the cards felt like a cheap gimmick, and the overall theme of the set didn't resonate with me. I was hoping for something more unique and exciting, but this set just fell flat for me.

While I appreciate the effort to showcase black artists and highlight black culture in the Magic: The Gathering community, I felt that the execution of the Secret Lair Black is Magic set was a bit off. Some of the card choices felt forced and didn't really fit into the overall theme. The price point was also a bit high considering the lack of truly standout cards in the set. It's great to see Wizards of the Coast trying to be more diverse and inclusive, but I think there's room for improvement in future sets.

I was really excited when I first heard about the Secret Lair Black is Magic set, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The card selection was underwhelming, and the artwork, while showcasing talented black artists, didn't wow me like previous Secret Lair sets. The black and white alternate versions of the cards felt like an unnecessary addition and didn't add much value to the set. Overall, I felt like this set was a missed opportunity to truly celebrate and honor black culture in a meaningful way within the Magic: The Gathering universe.

I was hoping for something unique and special with the Secret Lair Black is Magic set, but it left me feeling disappointed. The card choices felt random and didn't flow together well thematically. The alternate art versions in black and white were interesting but felt unnecessary and didn't add much value. I appreciate the effort to highlight black artists, but I think the overall execution of this set fell short. I hope that future Secret Lair sets will be more thoughtfully curated and provide a better gameplay experience.
