Rigoletto, a popular opera composed by Giuseppe Verdi, tells a tragic story centered around a curse. The curse is placed on Rigoletto, a hunchbacked court jester in the service of the libertine Duke of Mantua. The curse is cast by Count Monterone, a nobleman whose daughter has been seduced and dishonored by the Duke.
