We created the RYM Box Set Project to highlight not only the essential artists for every genre but albums and even suggested tracks. It's about as easy a way to get into a genre as it gets and is a mixtape with a purpose. It was created on 2/24/09 and is still being very actively worked and expanded.

If you are searching for a set try the RYM Ultimate Box Set Index which groups many of the sets in several different categories. If you see a set that's missing consider putting together a set for it if you’re an expert in it or willing to do adequate research and explore it fully. Here’s a guide on how to do just that and why I think genres are important and fascinating.

See the RYM Ultimate Box Set Playlists for Youtube and Spotify playlists of many sets. If you'd be interested in assembling missing playlists for either let me know! This is the new tumblr for spotlights on new sets everyday.

This has all the news and discussions regarding the project.

Techno Kayo is a style of Kayōkyoku which features slick, electronic productions made for Japanese “idol” singers. Many Techno Kayo songs were produced by members of Yellow Magic Orchestra and Moonriders. P-Vine Records’s impressive 8 compilations selected and highlighted a bunch of Techno Kayo songs on various labels from Polydor, Teichiku, Victor and Kind Records. Unfortunately, For Life Records and CBS/Sony didn’t participate in the project leaving some holes in their genre overviews. As a genre it fits in a narrow spot between Synthpop, New Wave, and emerging J-Pop.

Reviews for "The Witch's Companion: Harnessing the Potential of Ranni the Witch Hat"

- Lisa - 2 stars - I was really disappointed by "Ranni the Witch Hat". The story was slow and predictable, and the characters were one-dimensional. I found myself struggling to care about what happened to them, and the dialogue felt forced and unnatural. Overall, I just couldn't connect with this book and it left me feeling unsatisfied.
- John - 1 star - "Ranni the Witch Hat" was a complete waste of time for me. The writing style was clunky and awkward, making it difficult to follow the plot. The world-building was lacking, leaving me with more questions than answers. The main character, Ranni, was also annoying and lacked any depth. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
- Sarah - 2 stars - I had high hopes for "Ranni the Witch Hat", but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The story was filled with clichés and predictable plot twists. The pacing was off, with too much time spent on irrelevant details and not enough on the actual development of the story. The writing itself was also mediocre, lacking any notable prose or captivating descriptions. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied with this book.
