The Daily Stream: Practical Magic Has Gentle Spells And A Great Revenge Story

The Pitch: As someone who isn't generally the biggest fan of rom coms, it's almost hard to admit to loving a film like "Practical Magic," and yet when it pops up on television, I cannot resist. I seek it out when I'm stressed. There is something about this movie that melts it all away, like Sally and Gillian Owens have cast a spell on me.

1998's "Practical Magic" is based on the novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman, and was directed by Griffin Dunne (also known for his acting roles in movies like "After Hours" and "American Werewolf in London"). It stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in their late '90s glory. We're talking slip skirts, velvet dresses, and belly chains here. They play Sally and Gillian respectively, witch sisters who live with their aunts played by Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. Tell me there are women you'd want more than this to be your kooky witchy relatives and I'll call you a liar.

The Owens family is cursed, it seems. When any of the Owens women fall in love, the men they fall for always die. In an attempt to prevent this "curse" from robbing her of her hypothetical one true love, Sally casts a spell saying she'll only fall in love with a very specific man. He'll have different-colored eyes, and other traits so rare that she believes no man who fits the bill could ever possibly exist. Sally does fall in love, gets married, and has two kids with a man who doesn't fit that description — but alas, he bites the dust.

That guy does exist though, and all the magic in the world can't stop true love.

Protection spells are also a common form of practical magic. These spells are used to create a shield of energy around oneself or loved ones to ward off negative influences, hexes, or curses. Protection spells may involve the use of herbs, crystals, rituals, or sacred symbols to create a barrier of positive energy. Healing spells are another important aspect of practical magic. These spells are cast to promote physical, emotional, or spiritual healing. Healing spells may incorporate the use of herbs, energy work, crystals, or rituals to bring about balance and wellness. It's important to note that practical magic spells should always be performed with caution and respect for the free will of others. It's essential to consider the ethics and potential consequences before casting a spell. It's advisable to learn from experienced practitioners, follow ethical guidelines, and have a clear intention when practicing practical magic. Overall, practical magic spells can be a powerful tool for manifesting positive change in the physical world. Whether it's attracting love, wealth, protection, or healing, these spells can be a way to harness our intentions and focus our energy towards creating the outcomes we desire..

Reviews for "Magical Spells for Breaking Bad Habits and Creating Positive Change"

1. John Smith - 1 star - I was extremely disappointed with "Practical Magic Spells." The book promised a comprehensive guide to casting spells and harnessing supernatural powers, but it fell flat in every aspect. The instructions were vague and poorly explained, leaving me confused and unsure of what I was supposed to do. Additionally, the spells themselves were ineffective and produced no noticeable results. Overall, I feel like I wasted my money on a book that did not live up to its promises.
2. Emily Johnson - 2 stars - I had high hopes for "Practical Magic Spells," but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The book lacked depth and seemed more like a collection of generic spells found on the internet rather than a comprehensive guide. I was hoping for in-depth explanations and theories behind the magic, but instead, I found simple step-by-step instructions that lacked substance. It felt like a cash grab rather than a genuine effort to teach and educate readers about the world of magic.
3. Samantha Adams - 2 stars - "Practical Magic Spells" left me unimpressed. The book lacked originality and creativity, instead relying on tired and overused spells found in countless other sources. The explanations were minimal, leaving me with more questions than answers. I was hoping for a unique and innovative perspective on magic, but this book failed to deliver. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a truly enriching and educational experience with magic.
4. Michael Anderson - 2 stars - "Practical Magic Spells" was not what I expected it to be. The book was filled with basic and cliché spells that had been shared countless times before. I was hoping for something more in-depth and original, but instead, found myself bored and unengaged. The lack of variety and substance made it difficult to connect with the content of the book. Overall, I was disappointed with the lack of innovation and depth in "Practical Magic Spells." It failed to deliver a truly captivating and enlightening experience.
