Just use a bog standard Bluetooth stick. No need for such a "fancy" thing that most likely will cause problems.

I was thinking about buying a new bluetooth adapter, but I wanted to check if Mayflash s Magic NS adapter will allow the Switch Pro to connect to PC in a way that still allows Steam to recognize it as a Switch Pro and provide full support gyro and rumble. It doesn t really matter which BT adapter it is, the device is read from the device rom and driver; the BT doesn t really play a role, as long as it connects and works properly on the BT adapter in question.

Magic NS 2 Bluetooth adapter

I use an old bluetooth adapter with the Switch Pro for Steam's native support. I was thinking about buying a new bluetooth adapter, but I wanted to check if Mayflash's Magic NS adapter will allow the Switch Pro to connect to PC in a way that still allows Steam to recognize it as a Switch Pro and provide full support (gyro and rumble).

Is it possible to use the NS and get the same Switch Pro recognition with Steam as any regular bluetooth adapter? Or will it instead be recognized as an Xbox controller with no gyro support?

It doesn't really matter which BT adapter it is, the device is read from the device rom and driver; the BT doesn't really play a role, as long as it connects and works properly on the BT adapter in question. I would just ensure that whatever BT adapter you use that it support BT 4.1 or 4.2; as older spec'ed ones might have issues with some devices.

But the NS adapter is specifically designed to translate the Switch Pro to Xinput so it can be used like an Xbox controller, so the concern is that it may not be recognized as a Switch Pro by Steam. The NS has a Dinput mode, but I'm not sure if it just directly connects the Switch Pro as a normal BT adapter would or not.

That's what I was thinking, but with the NS I could also connect extra controllers to the Switch console for multiplayer. I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost though.

There is no specially designed nothing, you're buying into marketing BS.
BT is BT, plain and simple; there is a spec and a "it either works with certain devices, or it doesn't" it's just that simple.

If you already have it working via BT, don't change that, leave it be.
Changing to some other adapter is just going to be something that may or may not work for you. Why mess up what you already have working.

^My current BT adapter can no longer connect Wii remotes after a certain Windows 10 update. It seems to be a widespread issue with no solution, so I have a reason to try a new adapter. The NS adapter could connect every controller I have to PC and it would also allow me to connect controllers to the Nintendo Switch console, which is a big plus.

But again, if the Switch Pro can't be recognized by Steam to allow full support with gyro and rumble then it's a waste of time. If someone has the NS adapter and a Switch Pro, I'd appreciate it if they could confirm whether Steam still detects it as a Switch Pro.

Best bet regarding that would be wiping the driver clean and rebooting + reinstalling the driver fresh. That often can overcome what sometimes occurs when the OS kernel gets updated, which can sometimes screw with certain already installed drivers sometimes.

For Steam Client, go to the Settings and opt into the Beta

Hi,
I just bought mayflash magic-ns and I can confirm that Steam does recognize it as a Switch Pro Controller aswell as Nintendo Switch. But gyro is not working in both cases.

In Steam it moves mouse cursor outside screen when on desktop and in-game when gyro is used as mouse it just not working, On Switch i.e in Splatoon i moves camera down but when I reset it just stay there and I can't move it using gyro. So it tries to do something but it fails.

I think that the reason for this is that Switch Pro mode is designed to work with DS4. So I think if you would use DS4 it could work but Steam will recognize it as Switch Controller and not DS4. And that could lead to issues of its own.

Ideal would be somekind of passthrough mode for Switch Controller. That way you could pair controller with magic-ns and use it with PC, Steam Link, Switch etc without the need to re-pair it each time.

On the bright side Switch controller works just fine in XInput mode on PC and you can even change A/B, X/Y order.
