IMDb, also known as the Internet Movie Database, is a popular website that provides information related to films, television shows, actors, and other aspects of the entertainment industry. It is considered to be one of the most comprehensive and reliable sources for movie and TV show-related information. One of the interesting genres in movies and TV shows that IMDb covers is "witchcraft" or "witch" related content. From classic witch movies like "The Wizard of Oz" and "Hocus Pocus" to modern TV shows like "Charmed" and "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," IMDb provides a wealth of information on these subjects. Users can find details such as the cast and crew, plot summaries, user reviews, ratings, and much more. It is important to note that IMDb does not create content but rather collects and curates information from various sources.

ONLINE: Wicca Living : This website is written by author Lisa Chamberlain, who has written a lot of books about Wicca and related topics. Her website is a great gateway to the topics. For the first unit, please read through her website. Specific pages will be linked to topics below.

Through the exercises, crafts, meditations, and celebrations, your understanding and relationship to the cycles of nature and the principles of Wicca will strengthen and deepen. Wicca is a personal journey and although there are a few general rules , Wicca can be tailored to your own experience to maximize your relationship with the Divine.

It is important to note that IMDb does not create content but rather collects and curates information from various sources. It serves as a platform for fans and enthusiasts to find everything they need to know about witch-themed movies and TV shows. Users can also contribute to IMDb by submitting their own ratings and reviews, adding trivia, and participating in discussions on the message boards.

Wicca s year and a day

Welcome to the beginning of your Year and a Day. If you have reached this page, you should have already had permission to begin your studies with the Children of Athena. We welcome you to the path! Our hope is that you feel safe to explore your own spiritual development among a group of like minded people with your best interests at heart. As you move through the year and complete the explorations, always know that you may ask any questions and discuss any issue. Wicca is a personal journey and although there are a few general “rules”, Wicca can be tailored to your own experience to maximize your relationship with the Divine.

Although historically Wicca was a hidden tradition, today, with the internet, there is a vast library of information available. Though not all of it is accurate, the internet allows the Wiccan tradition to be constantly evolving with the creativity of countless people. Through your Year and Day, we will use both online and print resources for learning. When I began my own journey into Wicca, the internet did not yet exist, and the study of Wicca was hidden and difficult to find. But as I researched online to find sources for this program, I was amazed at the number of books on Wicca that have been written in the last decade! I will suggest a few to you that will most likely be traditional and historically important, but Wiccans are constantly learning, so explore as much as you can! Bringing books that you find useful to the circle to share with your covenmates is also always welcome.

In addition, we will use FICTION as a learning tool. Not all books will be directly Wicca themed, but there will be important archetypes, myths, or values imparted in the stories.

For a detailed reading list of books, visit the RECOMMENDED READING LIST (this list can also be found in the RESOURCES link)

The goal of the Year and a Day is to EXPERIENCE the lessons that you learn from what you read. Through the exercises, crafts, meditations, and celebrations, your understanding and relationship to the cycles of nature and the principles of Wicca will strengthen and deepen. Unlike many websites about Wicca, as a Dedicant of the Children of Athena, the goal is EXPERIENTIAL. We will point you in the direction of learning, discuss the topics with you, and join you in circle to manifest true Witchcraft.

Recommended Books and Websites:

ONLINE: Wicca Living : This website is written by author Lisa Chamberlain, who has written a lot of books about Wicca and related topics. Her website is a great gateway to the topics. For the first unit, please read through her website. Specific pages will be linked to topics below.

Books to Get you Started on your Journey:

The Real Witch’s Handbook by Kate West (2008) This book is a well-written, but simple introduction to the basics of Wicca. Kate’s writing style is easily accessible, and it is a good place to start. For Moon One, read chapters 1-4.

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham (1989). Although you’re working with a coven, this book is considered a classic and is one of the most influential books that ushered in the new renaissance of Wicca. It’s a must have for every Wiccan library and we will use it to review many of the basics of Traditional Wicca.

Assignments:

Online Assignment: After completing the required reading below, complete the online assignment and submit your responses. Please know that your assignments are confidential and will not be shared at anytime with anyone without your express permission. These assignments are designed to make you dig deeper into your conscious and subconscious mind to internalize the lessons that you’ve learned. If you have questions, please feel free to email me at any time. Online discussion is highly valued.

Start your Book of Shadows: Your Book of Shadows will be a journal of your magickal journey. It will take many years to create your BOS, and it’s a labor of love. You can either choose to a printed BOS, or many people now have it in digital form. If you are prefer to do it digitally, don’t just download a bunch of premade pages without really “experiencing” them. The pages will have no value to you until you spend some time incorporating the lessons.

Explore a God or a Goddess: Find a God or Goddess that appeals to you and prepare a short presentation for the group. Your presentation should include an explanation of the culture from which your diety comes, a representation, (either printed or drawn) of the diety, and an explanation of the archetype and why you chose that God.

Set up Your Personal Altar: an altar can be either simple or elaborate, but its purpose is to honor the Gods and to remind you each day to live your life within the framework of the Craft. For now, just find a place that you can devote to being an altar. Take a photo of the altar and email it to the group to show the beauty you’ve created. Explain what you’ve chosen to place on your altar and why.

Wicca Basics Reading Assignment

Introduction:

There is so much information available now both online and in print about Wicca and about the basic principles. Rather than rewrite what others have already written better than I could, each moon I will give you an assignment of “Minimum Reading”. It will be expected that you have read the required reading as a baseline for your understanding, but I highly recommend that you read even more. Witch’s are inherently curious about the world and always seek to deepen their knowledge, because we know that knowledge is POWER. The more that we know, and understand, the better success we will have with all our witchy workings and with our connection to the divine in nature and ourselves. Again, please explore to your heart’s content, and share sources that your find to be powerful, moving, or especially educational. The required reading will be very basic, and as we move through the year and a day, the lessons will become more in depth and more personal.

So - LETS GET STARTED!

What is Wicca?
At its core, Wicca is a spiritual belief system that follows the cycles of nature and offers a number of advanced methods of attuning oneself to the vibrations and patterns of the natural world in order to achieve personal balance, wellness and prosperity. Though based in pre-Christian pagan traditions, modern Wicca can be defined in a lot of ways. Wiccan author, Lisa Chamberlain, describes Wicca

Wicca is a modern, Earth-centered religion with roots in the ancient practices of our shamanic ancestors. Its practitioners, who call themselves Wiccans, honor the life-giving and life-sustaining powers of Nature through ritual worship and a commitment to living in balance with the Earth. Wicca is technically classified as a Pagan religion, though not all Wiccans would identify as Pagans—and plenty who identify as Pagans are not Wiccans .

Wiccan Etiquette : This is a list of basic Wiccan Etiquette that is good to read through , especially if you are invited to join someone else’s coven or circle. Etiquette is important because it takes into consideration the feelings of all people involved in a situation and sets up an framework for expected behavior. It also allows us to show gratitude and appreciate for the time and energy that others share with you in the circle.
