The Wicca calendar for the year 2024 is based on the cycles of the moon and the solstices and equinoxes. This pagan calendar is followed by those who practice Wicca, a modern witchcraft religion. In Wicca, the year is divided into eight major holidays, known as Sabbats, which are celebrated throughout the year. These Sabbats are divided into two categories: the Greater Sabbats, also known as the cross-quarter days, and the Lesser Sabbats, or the solstices and equinoxes. The first Sabbat of the year is Imbolc, which is celebrated on February 2nd. It marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

Baton Rouge rapper Kevin Gates has canceled his scheduled performance at the 2016 Voodoo Fest in New Orleans' City Park this weekend. In a tweet, Voodoo organizers said Gates backed out "due to an unforeseen incarceration."

On Wednesday, a jury in Polk County, Florida, found Gates guilty of battery.

According to Billboard magazine, he was convicted of kicking a female fan who tugged on his pants leg during a performance at Rumor's Nite Club in Lakeland, Florida, on Aug. 28, 2015.

The judge sentenced Gates to 180 days in the Polk County jail, with credit for time served, plus court costs and fines.

Gates, who has previously spent time in prison in Louisiana, was slated to perform on Voodoo's Pepsi Stage at 8:45 p.m. Friday. He has been replaced by Mississippi-bred hip-hop brother act Rae Sremmurd.

Not surprisingly, Gates' post-fest show at the House of Blues, which was slated for later Friday night, is also canceled.

In other Voodoo news, Charles Bradley & the Extraordinaires have canceled their show at the festival, apparently because Bradley is still recovering from a medical procedure.

The raucous New Orleans rock band Morning 40 Federation will fill in for Bradley and company at the South Course Stage at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
