By John Callaham May 31, 2018Update (05/31): Might & Magic: Elemental Guardians is now available to download on Android devices via the Google Play Store. Publisher Ubisoft celebrated the launch with a new trailer (above) showing the turn-based gameplay in action.
If you pre-registered to play Elemental Guardians you’ll be able to grab a “special reward” in-game until June 7. The latest entry in the Might & Magic series is a free-to-play title with in-app purchases which range from $0.99 to $99.99 per item.

Original story (03/15): The Might & Magic fantasy RPG series is one of the longest running console and PC video game franchises. Today, Ubisoft announced it is bringing the series over to smartphones with the worldwide launch of Might & Magic: Elemental Guardians on May 31 for Android and iOS. The game was soft launched in limited markets about a year ago.
The first Might & Magic game launched for the Apple II way back in 1986 by New World Computing. More games were released in the series, even after the developer was acquired in 1996 by The 3DO Company. Later, 3DO shut down and the rights to the Might & Magic franchise were purchased by Ubisoft, who released a number of PC, console and mobile games since then.
Might & Magic: Elemental Guardians was developed by Ubisoft Barcelona Mobile specifically for Android and iOS. Players will have to assemble a team of characters to fight in tactical strategy RPG battles. Over 400 creatures will be available to either collect for your team, or to fight against in matches. Those creatures can also evolve over time to gain new powers and abilities, and you can battle other people worldwide in PvP matches.
The game also promised to have augmented reality features. You can take pictures of yourself with your team’s creatures side-by-side with this AR mode, along with a way to watch matches in some kind of AR view. The game will also have special live events, and you can join in-game Guilds to go on special co-op adventures with friends. The magical thicket felt more like a sad excuse for a walking path through a few trees with cheap decorations scattered around. The haunted attractions were lackluster at best, with predictable jump scares and unconvincing actors. Overall, I expected a lot more from this experience and wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a truly spooky and immersive Halloween attraction.
2. Sarah - 1/5 stars - My visit to the "Magical thicket and haunted attractions" at Opportunity Village was a complete letdown. The magical thicket was just a maze of overgrown bushes with nothing particularly magical about it. The haunted attractions were poorly designed, with predictable scares and actors who lacked enthusiasm. Additionally, the pricing was steep for what was essentially a mediocre Halloween experience. Save your money and look elsewhere for a more thrilling and immersive haunted attraction.

The magical thicket felt more like a poorly maintained garden with a few random decorations thrown in. The haunted attractions lacked any real scares and the actors seemed disinterested in their roles. Overall, it was a lackluster experience that left me wanting more. I would not recommend this attraction to anyone seeking an immersive and memorable Halloween experience.
