The Intriguing Story Behind Mae Boeowski's Dagger

By admin

Mae Borowski, the main character of the video game "Night in the Woods," plays a significant role in the story with her vibrant personality and personal struggles. One of the intriguing aspects of Mae's character is her fascination with daggers. Throughout the game, Mae is seen multiple times talking about and holding a dagger. While it may seem odd for a young adult to have an interest in weapons, the dagger symbolizes more than just a weapon for Mae. It represents her desire for control and the power she wants to feel in her life. Mae often feels out of control and overwhelmed by her emotions and the challenges she faces.

I wanted to create a mock-up rebrand project for this restaurant. My main goal was to redesign their current logo into a more modern yet sophisticated style, without diminishing the Chinese aesthetics. Their current logo is very much on the traditional side, mainly showcasing Chinese calligraphy for most of it. I wanted to go on a different route and explore more of the beauty and possibilities with the Chinese characters I have to work with. I ended up picking a font called “ZCOOL QingKe HuangYou Regular” to base my logo on. I really like the modern take on the Chinese character as well as the roundedness of this specific font. I also went with the same color palette from the original logo as I don’t feel it was necessary to change. Here is what I came up with.

Logo Dissected

The focal point of this logo are the four characters in the upper most part. I decided to create this logotype by combining the two Chinese characters which are 面 (noodle) and 馍 (bun/burger) with their specific illustrations.

Additionally, Mae's fascination with daggers may also reflect her rebellious nature. She is known to be a troublemaker and constantly challenges authority figures. The dagger could embody her defiance and unwillingness to conform to societal norms. Furthermore, the dagger can be seen as a representation of Mae's inner struggles and conflicts. As the game progresses, Mae's mental health deteriorates, and she starts to experience hallucinations and nightmares. The dagger serves as a reminder of the darkness that lurks within her and the constant battle she faces within herself. In conclusion, the dagger in Mae Borowski's character is not just a simple weapon. It holds deeper meaning and symbolism in representing Mae's desire for control, her rebellious nature, and her internal struggles. This aspect adds layers of complexity to her character and further enhances the narrative of "Night in the Woods.".

Reviews for "Mae Boeowski's Dagger: A Relic of the Past"

1. John - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Mae boeowski which dagger". The storyline was confusing, and it felt like the director was trying too hard to be avant-garde without actually making any sense. The acting was also quite poor, with wooden performances that failed to engage me as a viewer. Overall, I found the film to be pretentious and frustratingly abstract.
2. Sarah - 1/5 stars - "Mae boeowski which dagger" was a complete waste of time. The plot was incomprehensible, and it felt like the filmmakers were deliberately trying to confuse the audience. The dialogue was nonsensical, and I couldn't connect with any of the characters. It was an incredibly frustrating and unsatisfying experience, and I regret watching it.
3. Mark - 2/5 stars - I typically enjoy experimental films, but "Mae boeowski which dagger" missed the mark for me. The pacing was extremely slow, and it felt like nothing was happening for the majority of the film. The lack of a cohesive narrative made it difficult to stay engaged, and the abstract imagery didn't add any depth or meaning to the story. I appreciate the attempt at creating something unique, but it failed to resonate with me.
