7 Signs of a Family Curse

Family curses are recurring problems that steal, kill, and destroy. Scripture is clear God visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children up to the third and fourth generation (Exodus 20:5). Curses don’t visit your family without a cause. When someone up the family tree gives spirits the right to visit because of iniquity they come looking for a reason to mess up your life. Take courage. After family curses are exposed Christ’s deliverance is readily available.

You cannot choose your relatives anymore than you can choose skin color, gender, or race. Someone up the family tree could be the cause for a generational curse. A family curse is a payment or “recompense for iniquity.” It is written, “Render unto them a recompence, o Lord, according to the work of their hands. Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them. Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the Lord” (Lamentations 3:64-66).

Generational Curses at Work: What are the Signs?

As Christian counselors and deliverance ministers, our ministry sees many cases of “generational curses” being passed down through family lines.

How significant is this? We contend that this element alone is responsible for between one half and two thirds of the issues people deal with!

There are families where each generation will have those that suffer from: alcoholism, drug addiction, poverty, stealing, lying, violence, child molesting, promiscuity, mental illness, fear, feelings of inferiority, suicide, as well as many illnesses.

We see issues below that often signal a generational curse working in the bloodline:

  • Patterns of mental and or emotional breakdowns. (i.e. anxiety, depression, bi-polar, etc.)
  • Chronic sickness from a particular affliction
  • Women miscarrying or not able to get pregnant.
  • Family/marriage breakdowns prevalent
  • Poverty / bankruptcy common
  • Frequent “accidents”
  • Family history of suicides or untimely deaths

None of the above are proofs, but they can be indicators and these questions get addressed during the first interview session.

Exodus 20:5-6 (NIV) presents the best reference to generational curses:

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

It sounds unfair for God to punish children for the sins of their fathers. However, this is looking at it from an earthly perspective. When a father has a sinning way of life, his children are likely to have the same sinful lifestyle as well.

That is why it is not undeserved for God to penalize sin to the third or fourth generation – because they are committing the same sins their ancestors did. From a spiritual warfare perspective, we need to understand that repetitive, or family sins, can open the door for demonic torment.

Each person is being punished for their own sins, not the sins of their ancestors. The Bible expressly tells us that God does not hold children liable for the sins of their parents (Deuteronomy 24:16).

The Bible tells us that the sins of the father can be “visited” down to the third and fourth generations of future children and this “visitation” can include demonic oppression, or demonic possession in the case of those not belonging to Christ.

You can place it on your bed, couch, or desk to bring some Halloween charm into your space. The Halloween owl witch squishmallow is a must-have for any Halloween enthusiast or collector, and it's sure to become a treasured companion for years to come..

Generational Curses Broken By Jesus But Spirits Can Still Be Active

What does God mean by the word “visiting” – visiting the sins of the father down on three or four generations of future children? The Bible tells us that the “wages” of sin will always be death. In other words, sin has consequences, and if the sins are on the more heavy and serious side – then the consequences could be extreme.

If the sinning parent is indwelt by demons and therefore oppressed, the devils will then attempt to transfer onto one or more of the children in the family to form out a bloodline curse. Generational curses involve demonic torment and indwelling.

If this curse line ends up getting formed out – then the demons will torment that child into his adult life and try to get him to commit the same type of sins that his sinning parent had been committing. Until he gets delivered from those spirits, either sovereignly by the Lord or by being ministered to, he will be tormented.

The good news is that Jesus has broken these generational curses however the spirits can still be operating in a person’s life. As deliverance ministers, we “appropriate” that victory by declaring that the curses are broken, cancelling the assignment of spirits associated with that curse and as part of the ministry process we see people get set free!

How Generational Curses Affect My Love Life

Do you ever wonder what someone would think if they saw the items in your purse? If you looked in my purse right now, you would find a flower vase, hand-sanitizer, a hair-bow, a protective face mask, an old glow stick, a pen, a tape measure, lotion, Zyrtec, a marker, a flashlight, and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

While random, each of these items is there for a reason: The mask, hand-sanitizer, and Zyrtec are in there to keep me safe, the flower vase is a gift and the tape measurer is for a project I am working on.

The items in my purse are not directly related to my love life or yours. However, taking a look at our lives and what we carry around (physically and metaphorically), reveals a lot about who we are and the impact this baggage can have on our relationships.

Reviews for "Join the Halloween Craze with Owl Witch Squishmallows"

1. Sarah - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with the Halloween owl witch squishmallow. The design looked so cute in the pictures, but when I received it, I found the quality to be really poor. The stitching was uneven and the material felt cheap. Additionally, the stuffing was lumpy, making it uncomfortable to squeeze or cuddle. I expected better for the price I paid and wouldn't recommend purchasing this particular squishmallow.
2. John - 1/5 stars - I was excited to add the Halloween owl witch squishmallow to my collection, but it turned out to be a huge letdown. The colors were dull and faded compared to the vibrant image online. The plush itself seemed cheaply made, with loose threads and an overall poor construction. I also found the stuffing to be uneven, making the squishmallow lack the softness I was expecting. Save your money and don't waste it on this disappointing product.
3. Emma - 3/5 stars - While the Halloween owl witch squishmallow had its cute moments, I felt it was overpriced for what it offered. The design was adorable, and the material was soft, but I expected a bit more in terms of quality. The squishmallow lost its shape easily and didn't have the same durability as other squishmallows I own. Although it was still a decent addition to my Halloween decorations, I think there are better options available for the same price.
