Only complaint were the TV’s not always working properly, not able to change channels or TV’s not turning on. Would have to unplug them and reboot the routers. This was a problem with all the TV’s and many calls were made to the reality office. I hope problem was fixed for next renters

Awesome Weekend @ “Black Magic!”

This weekend we found ourselves on the beautiful coast of South Carolina as ten friends, Jen and I successfully achieved a major hang-out weekend.

We watched a TON of college football, including the Gamecocks early in the day, and continued into the night with the Clemson and Michigan drama.

As awesome as the weekend already was, the surprise, and perhaps the star of the show was the sheer amount of horses that walked and galloped by as we watched from the expansive ocean view.

Turns out, a massive and creative fundraiser was domiciled just down the beach from where we were staying. More than 800 horses were in attendance, carrying their owners on a 20 mile beach ride for a good cause.

The view of the Atlantic was perfect already, but the continual parade of horses strolling on the beach created a rare spectacle.

HUGE shout out to my brother and sister-in-laws, Jeff and Stephanie Black. I hadn’t been to “Black Magic” since the construction phase. It is beautiful and badass, and provides a perfect platform for a fantastic time. THANK YOU.

We all had a grand time, especially the moms that needed “that weekend” away from…well, anything. One mom didn’t come out of her room until around 3ishPM on Saturday. What happened? She got a round of applause from the rest of us…haha.

Personally, I had a blast, admittedly, but am glad to get back to the day to day of what we do.

Side Note; If you ever want a stellar house somewhere between Garden City/Surfside and Myrtle Beach, “Black Magic” is ready to go.

CURRENTS OF CHANGE DIVIDE BLACK ENCLAVE

ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. — Tucked among the condominium glitter of South Carolina`s Grand Strand beach front, Atlantic Beach is an oddity: an enclave of small cottages, overgrown lots and 800 year-round residents, virtually all of them black, that has intentionally avoided development.

''Compared to Myrtle Beach, we`re an eyesore,'' said Earlene Woods, owner of the Black Magic Lounge and a nearby motel, as she looked down the town`s main street with its dilapidated and boarded-up commercial buildings.

The high-rise resorts and dense commercial properties of Myrtle Beach are typical of the Grand Strand`s 60 miles of unbroken beach front.

But there are some residents in Atlantic Beach who have hopes of changing all that.

Working with a $250,000 planning grant from South Carolina Gov. Carroll Campbell Jr., town officials have hired one of the state`s most successful development companies to package and market the area for development.

The plan, being put together by the Keenan Co. of Columbia, is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month and presented to the town.

The effort has bared some tension between the vision of the poorer year-round residents who want jobs and commercial activity and the descendants of the middle-class doctors, lawyers and teachers who established the community in 1938 as a summer resort for blacks.

Some of these property owners, many of whom live out of state, fear that the development plan will not allow for continued black control of the town and a substantial financial benefit for black landowners or residents.

''The people who own property here are proud that this is a black town and want to see it developed in a way that blacks will continue to have access to it,'' said Gertha Gibson of Fayetteville, N.C., whose family owns more than seven prime building lots near the beach front.

''But the year-round people want money and jobs by whatever means they can get them.''

Such tensions, rarely discussed openly in the town, have scuttled at least two previous development initiatives, residents said.

But this is the first time the state government has gotten behind the effort, a fact that is either ominous or hopeful, depending on who is assessing it.

Founded in 1938 by a group of black doctors who bought the land for $50,000, Atlantic Beach was for decades a mecca for black families who were barred from other beach-front resort towns.

''It was called the Atlantic Beach Co.,'' said Michael Kelly, whose father was one of the original investors.

''They didn`t have brochures or anything; they just spread the word through the grapevine.

''They maintained the beach for the general black public and never restricted it to landowners. And the underlying reason for this was so African-Americans could have a place of their own.''

It was at once a quiet family place for the black elite and a classless haven, recalled Gibson`s daughter, Denise Gibson-Bailey.

''Our house is right on the beach, and I remember seeing white farm owners back their trucks right up to the beach and let off their black farmhands for the weekend and pick them up on Sunday night,'' she said.

''That was a time that we were not very proud of, with segregation and all, but I am glad a lot of us kept our land beyond that time.''

It was Hurricane Hazel in 1954 and the end of segregated beaches about 10 years later that marked the beginning of Atlantic Beach`s decline.

The hurricane destroyed many of the fine homes and commercial buildings, and many of their owners, lacking insurance, were unable to rebuild.

Then with integration, blacks gradually ventured out to sample the once-forbidden havens of nearby Myrtle Beach, Windy Hill and other towns.

''After about seven years of integration, we could tell things had changed,'' said Woods, who is president of the town`s landowners association. Many blacks who come here to bask on Atlantic Beach`s sands stay at the modern hotels in Myrtle Beach.

Each year Gibson-Bailey, whose husband is a deputy corporation counsel in Washington, invites groups of friends to the couple`s beach house here. It is a group, she said, that could afford any of the big resorts along the coast, and feels perfectly comfortable there, but the Atlantic Beach setting brings back pleasant memories.

''We can really let our hair down and feel comfortable,'' she said.

Mayor Joe Montgomery said the fierce protectiveness with which many black property owners regard the town stems partly from what has happened with other coastal areas that were once largely black.

Hilton Head and Daufuskie Island are now prime resort areas generating large profits-not for the former black residents, but for white developers.

''But I don`t think we ought to sit here and not take the risk of development,'' Montgomery said.

''If we don`t do something, somebody else will wind up with it anyway, and then what will I tell my grandchildren?''

Reviews for "Rocking the Farm Rio Amulet Dress: Outfit inspiration for every body type"

- Jessica - 1 star - I was so disappointed with the Farm rio amulet dress. The fit was completely off and was not flattering at all. The material felt cheap and uncomfortable. I also had issues with the color bleeding when I washed it. I would definitely not recommend this dress.
- Sarah - 2 stars - The Farm rio amulet dress looked so cute in the pictures, but I was really disappointed when it arrived. The quality was really poor, with loose threads everywhere and uneven stitching. The fit was also strange, as it was too tight in some areas and too loose in others. Overall, it was a waste of money and I won't be shopping from this brand again.
- Emily - 1 star - I had high expectations for the Farm rio amulet dress, but it fell short in every way possible. The fabric was thin and see-through, and the colors were not as vibrant as advertised. The dress also had a strange odor to it, even after washing it multiple times. I was really disappointed with the quality and would not recommend it to anyone.
