Dorrie the Witch: A Heartwarming Series about Family and Love

By admin

Dorrie the witch is a popular children's book series created by author Patricia Coombs. The series follows the adventures of a little witch named Dorrie, who has a mischievous black cat named Gink. Dorrie lives in a ramshackle house in the woods with her mother, who is also a witch. Dorrie is a unique witch character as she is often described as being clumsy and forgetful, unlike the traditional, mysterious and wise witches commonly depicted in literature. This makes her more relatable and endearing to young readers. Despite her mistakes, Dorrie always manages to save the day with her resourcefulness and her trusting relationship with Gink.

On the other hand, if space is a concern and you’re looking for something smaller, you can choose to have inflatable signs. After all, a pair of well-designed advertising balloons on a stick can still attract the attention of potential customers while occupying less space and costing less.

If the available inflatable witch hat designs aren t a good match for your business, you can always get some custom air dancer and custom inflatable balloons. Handmade wet felted Secret Witch hat, blending from moss green brim, through shades of olive green on the crown, sculpted into neat folds that can be manipulated into various forms.

Throughout the series, Dorrie encounters a variety of magical creatures, including ghosts, goblins, and dragons. She also learns spells and uses her magic to solve problems and help others.

So many ways to wear this hat! Unleash the coils for a full pointy hat, pull out half way at a jaunty angle, or snuggle them all in place for a funky sculpted shape.

Handmade wet felted 'Secret Witch' hat, blending from moss green brim, through shades of olive green on the crown, sculpted into neat folds that can be manipulated into various forms!

The brim is wired to retain it's shape, and can be turned up or down, allowing you to create different moods. The crown can be squished and squashed and it'll pop back into shape. (I find a pencil useful for the centre knobbly bit!)

Yes, wear it in the rain and snow. No, it won't shrink in the rain. Just dry it in shape after it gets wet.

As with all my hats, the fit is adjustable. There is an inner drawstring threaded into the felt itself - pull the tab to your size and wrap it around the button to secure. This means that this hat will fit most medium to large heads - from approx 54 - 59 cm (approx 21-23 inches)

I make all my hats by hand, turning unspun merino wool into a strong felt using traditional wet felting methods.

Each book in the series showcases a different adventure and life lesson for Dorrie. One of the key aspects of the Dorrie books is Coombs' whimsical illustrations. The black and white drawings bring the characters and their magical world to life, captivating young readers and adding to the charm of the stories. The illustrations effectively capture Dorrie's distinctive appearance, with her unruly hair and striped stockings. The Dorrie the witch series has been beloved by children and parents alike since its launch in the 1960s. The stories of Dorrie and her adventures continue to be enjoyed by generations of readers, introducing them to the world of magic and imagination. Coombs' charming and relatable characters make the books timeless classics in the realm of children's literature..
