The first book of this series reshaped the way I enjoy reading (listening) to novels. The transition between 1st and 3rd person keep me totally interested and engaged with the story. I love the language and syntax throughout the entire series. Simon Jones also is an amazing narrator. His voicd totally matches the smug cool intellectual tones of Nathaniel and Bartimaeus.

I was really disappointed with the "Amulet of Samarkand" audiobook. First, the narrator's voice was very monotonous and lacked any sort of emotion. This made it really hard to stay engaged with the story. Additionally, I found the pacing to be incredibly slow and it felt like the story dragged on forever. Overall, I had high expectations for this audiobook but it fell far short of them.

I have to say, I wasn't overly impressed with the "Amulet of Samarkand" audiobook. While the story itself had potential, the execution fell flat. The narration was often difficult to follow, with the voice actor failing to differentiate between characters. This made it confusing at times to know who was speaking. Furthermore, there were several instances of mispronunciations and mistakes in the reading, which were quite distracting. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed by this audiobook.
