Amulet is a popular graphic novel series created by Kazu Kibuishi. The series follows the adventures of a young girl named Emily Hayes and her younger brother, Navin, as they navigate a magical world filled with mystery and danger. The story begins when Emily and Navin move to their ancestral home after the death of their father. They discover a hidden underground world populated by strange creatures and discover that their family has a long-standing connection to this enchanted realm. Along the way, they encounter various allies and enemies, each with their own agendas and secrets.

Casting Time - Bonus Action A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn. You can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action. (PHB, p. 202)

begingroup Reviewing the limitation on one-spell-per-turn in the PHB, I see what you mean it s only attached to bonus action spells, and is per turn , which might mean though turn is ambiguous in the PHB , that another spell can be cast out-of-turn as a reaction. Does it make a difference if the idea is for the one spell to be cast all by itself on a turn or if the desire is to use another Bonus Action possibly a spell on the same turn.

Along the way, they encounter various allies and enemies, each with their own agendas and secrets. The Amulet series is known for its stunning artwork, with Kibuishi's illustrations bringing the world of the story to life. The magical creatures and landscapes are beautifully rendered, adding to the sense of wonder and adventure.

Can I use a spell with a casting time of "Bonus Action" as my action?

I get that some spells are "especially swift" to cast and thus have a casting time of "Bonus Action". But is there any reason I couldn't cast such a spell as my Action? Does it make a difference if the idea is for the one spell to be cast all by itself on a turn or if the desire is to use another Bonus Action (possibly a spell) on the same turn?
