An artist who aspires to become a children's book illustrator. Stays young at heart and an avid daydreamer. When the weather permits, I enjoy visiting/biking on the nature trail near my house. Visiting the trail has brought me many hours of enjoyment and relaxation. My camera is usually by my side while on the trail. I like to try to find the small and unnoticeable as subjects for my photos. And of course flowers and plant life encompass many of my subjects. I take pride in creating items with quality craftsmanship. I earned my BFA degree at UWO with an emphasis in drawing and sculpture. While attending school, I discovered my love of watercolors and sculpting with Apoxie Sculpt. This is when and where Lilly the Ladybug took shape and blossomed into a variety of subjects for my work. Both Lilly and I hope you enjoy the work of Lilly Bug Studio and discover, "the wonder of new things."

On June 13, 1899, Charles Sacke, an ex-Seattle brewer and owner of the Skagway City Brewery, and Albert Reinert, a 32-year old recent arrival from Seattle , purchased the Mascot building. After 1948, when the Herns sold the Mascot, the building was used for storage and, at various occasions during the 1950s, for rummage sales by the Women s Club.

Penguin Sculpture – A Hair Salon Mascot

Here’s a penguin sculpture that Christine created for a local hair salon named “Twist n Tease.” In the photo above I, Ralphie the bunny, am standing next to the penguin just prior to it getting coated with gesso as a primer coat. The color of the penguin in the photo is the color of the Apoxie Sculpt that she uses to sculpt her penguins with. Do you know what is under the layer of Apoxie Sculpt? It’s a burned out light bulb that Christine up-cycled into an armature for her penguin sculpture. She has created a variety of sculptures using light bulbs as a way to reuse them.
