Altered magic cards are a popular aspect of the collectible card game Magic: The Gathering. These are unique versions of the cards that have been modified or customized by the players themselves. There are various reasons why players alter their magic cards. Some do it for personalization, as they want their decks to stand out and have a unique aesthetic. Others do it as a form of self-expression, using the cards as a canvas to showcase their artistic abilities. The alteration process usually involves painting directly on the card or attaching customized additions to it.

These lipsticks don’t have the same matte finish as the original Hot Lips collection. I have another Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, admittedly from the Matte Revolution line, and they really weren’t joking when they said it was matte. These are a lot more comfortable on the lips and have a gorgeous sheen that make your lips look lovely and juicy.

I mean, you ve got to hand it to her, Charlotte Tilbury is has come out with the most gorgeous packaging so obviously you d never want to chuck it away. It also makes it more versatile you can wear your lipstick as it s original colour and choose a lip liner that is close to it, or you can go for different lip liners to play around with the colour.

The alteration process usually involves painting directly on the card or attaching customized additions to it. Paints, markers, and even physical elements like glitter or feathers can be employed to create the desired effect. However, it is important to note that altering cards can potentially affect their value, especially if the alteration is poorly executed or covers important card details.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2

From the moment I had a taste of my first Charlotte Tilbury lipstick experience with the ever iconic Pillow Talk- I was hooked. I began to look for more Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks to include in my rotation. The research process was so fun- it was like I was introduced to this new world of lipstick! What I notice from Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick range is the extensive level of different undertone range she has for a single color. For example, even their pale pinks come in various undertones ranging from cool to neutral to warm- and the same goes for their peaches and reds etc. So although many seem to look similar on the bullet, or swatched on the arm, once worn on the lips, there are differences, though not stark.

And then one day I stumbled on the Hot Lips 2 series- where I was enamoured by the shade “JK Magic”, this peachy beige rose that seemed to be the right amount of peach, beige & rose for a nude lip that's flattering for my skin tone. I am always on the search for beige-y nude lipsticks, and so once I saw this color and the magical lipstick case it came in- I knew this would a must have for me . I picked another 2 shades up, Dancefloor Princess and Angel Alessandra - all from the same collection. These all happened to be in another one of Charlotte’s popular formula called K.I.S.S.I.N.G, one I had not tried before as Pillow Talk is in her Matte Revolution formula.

About Hot Lips 2

The Hot Lips 2 collection is an extension from the Hot Lips collection where the shades are named after celebrities and public figures that have inspired Charlotte, and in turn have inspired the colors of their lipsticks. The ones I picked out are JK Rowling for JK Magic, Kylie Minogue for Dancefloor Princess, and Alessandra Ambrosio for Angel Alessandra. These shades truly to match the personality they are paired to.

This collection isn’t new and there’s already countless reviews done on these lipsticks, so this post won’t be too much about that. But rather it’s just an easy breezy one that I’d thought I’d write up, take some pictures to. The thought just came up as I was going through my lipstick drawer, and I thought I’d show a little love & appreciation to these beauties. By now Charlotte Tilbury has probably countless of new lipsticks, but if you’re looking to try Charlotte Tilbury- I think these series are a great place to start! Their shade range is lovely and their casings are so special. On top of that- they are available to buy as refills too, so you don’t need to get a new case each time. It’s like special little collectible lipsticks.

Swatches

I’ve done some quick arm and lip swatches of the shades I currently have, so if you have a similar skintone to me, it may help you decide if these are the right ones for you. Especially if you love wearable peach, pinks and rosey toned beige. These do pull more on the warmer side on my skin tone, but not overly so like so many other “neutral” lipsticks I’ve tried, and they don’t contrast too much and are able to work seamlessly with countless number of looks.

Here they are on the arm:

  • Angel Alessandra is a coral peachy nude
  • J.K. Magic is a peachy beige nude-rose
  • Dancefloor Princess is a dreamy, pretty, cool-girl pink

Many players consider altering magic cards as a creative outlet and a way to further engage with the game. Customized cards often become conversation starters and can even enhance the overall enjoyment of the game for all players involved. Some professional artists have even made a name for themselves in the magic card altering community, producing stunning and highly sought-after altered cards. These artists have found a way to combine their passion for the game with their artistic skills, resulting in unique and valuable pieces of art. However, it is worth mentioning that not all tournaments or events allow altered cards to be used. This is to prevent any unfair advantage that may come from altered cards or to maintain the integrity of the game. It is always recommended to check the specific tournament rules before using altered magic cards in a competitive setting. In conclusion, altered magic cards offer players a way to personalize and customize their decks, expressing their creativity and making their cards stand out. While altering cards can impact their value and may not be allowed in all settings, it remains a popular aspect of the Magic: The Gathering community and a testament to the passion and artistic talent of its players..
