Includes 12 plates + frontispiece, with one hand-colored plate. This books is a handsome example of a 19th century fine binding. Rounded spine has 5 raised bands, and 2 burgundy text squares. Marble paper pastedowns add a nice finishing touch.

Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Half bound in green leather, with green linen boards.
  • Corners are sharp and spine ends are firm.
  • Perimeters are lightly scuffed with exposed board in places.
  • Front cover has 1/2" scuff line in leather near spine.
  • Spine has elaborate gilt decoration.
  • Shoulders are scuffed, with cracking apparent from tail on back shoulder.
  • Binding is firm, yet boards are delicate as leather is dry.
  • Interior is gently and evenly age toned.
  • Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Very little foxing scattered throughout text.
  • A few pages have light to moderate staining.
  • Head of text block has bright gilt.
  • All text block edges are a little dusty.
