Wicca is a modern pagan, witchcraft religion that follows a calendar called the Wicca Wheel. This calendar is based on the cycles of the moon and the seasons of the year. The Wicca Wheel consists of eight festivals or Sabbats. These Sabbats are divided into two groups - the four Lesser Sabbats and the four Greater Sabbats. The Lesser Sabbats are also known as the solstices and equinoxes, which mark the changing of the seasons. They are called Imbolc, Ostara, Litha, and Mabon.

Litha, also known as Midsummer, is celebrated on the summer solstice when the days are longest. Mabon, the autumn equinox, is a time of harvest and thanking the gods for their blessings. The Greater Sabbats are the four major festivals in the Wicca Wheel. They are Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, and Beltane. Samhain, also known as Halloween, marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the dark half of the year. It is a time when the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest. Yule, the winter solstice, celebrates the rebirth of the sun and is a time of joy and festivity. Imbolc, the first of the Lesser Sabbats, is also celebrated as a Greater Sabbat in some traditions. It is a time of purification and new beginnings. Beltane, celebrated on May 1st, marks the beginning of summer and represents fertility and love. Each Sabbat in the Wicca Wheel has its own rituals, symbols, and correspondences.
