In a land far beyond the reaches of civilization, there was a creature unlike any other. This creature, known as Draygon, was a mystical being with scales as tough as steel and eyes that glowed with an intense, fiery light. It possessed magical abilities that allowed it to dominate its surroundings, bending reality to its will. But Draygon was not content with its powers alone. It had heard whispers of a legendary artifact known as the Magic Cutlass – a weapon rumored to grant its wielder unimaginable strength and invincibility. Draygon could not resist the allure of such power and vowed to find the cutlass at any cost.

Mutineer’s Cutlass
Weapon (scimitar), rare (requires attunement)

A slow trickle of blood drips from the blade of this cutlass. The blood is hot to the touch, as if freshly spilled. You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

The cutlass has 3 charges. When you hit a creature with this cutlass, you can expend 1 charge to force it to make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the blade’s tainted blood seeps into the creature’s wound and sends it into a mutinous rage for 1 minute. Constructs are immune to this effect. While enraged, the creature cannot distinguish between friend or foe, regarding all creatures it can see as enemies. Whenever the affected creature chooses another creature as a target, it must choose the target at random from among the creatures it can see within range of the attack, spell, or other ability it’s using. If an enemy provokes an opportunity attack from the affected creature, the creature must make that attack if it is able to. An enraged creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. The cutlass regains all expended charges daily at dawn.

This sinister sword was retrieved from a ship drifting in open water, strewn with the corpses of all aboard. The blade is stained with the blood of the ship’s own captain and crew, which lost its course in uncharted waters. It appears that a mutiny broke out, resulting in the crew’s total annihilation. A mutinous spirit inhabits the blade, emanating desperate bloodthirsty rage.

The creature and the magic cutlass

However, the creature's resilience and magical abilities propelled it forward, undeterred by any obstacle that crossed its path. Along the way, Draygon met a group of magical beings who called themselves the Guardians of the Ancient Key. They spoke of the Magic Cutlass and its immense power. Intrigued, Draygon forged a fragile alliance with the Guardians, pooling their knowledge and resources to find the artifact. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months as Draygon and the Guardians tirelessly searched for clues to the whereabouts of the Magic Cutlass. Their unwavering determination eventually led them to the forgotten ruins of an ancient city hidden deep within a forbidden forest. As they delved deeper into the ruins, Draygon sensed an increase in the air's magical aura. It was a sign that they were nearing their goal. Finally, they reached the heart of the city, where a towering pedestal stood, adorned with intricate carvings. Within the pedestal lay the Magic Cutlass, pulsating with an otherworldly energy. Draygon's heart raced with excitement as it approached the artifact, but before it could claim its prize, a powerful force field materialized, trapping Draygon and the Guardians within the chamber. A booming voice resonated throughout the chamber, revealing itself as the guardian of the Magic Cutlass. It spoke of the weapon's true purpose – not to grant power but to safeguard the balance of the world. The guardian warned Draygon of the consequences that would befall the land if the creature were to unleash the cutlass's immense power. Realizing the weight of its actions, Draygon made a choice. It vowed to protect the Magic Cutlass and restore the balance that it had unknowingly threatened. The guardian, satisfied with Draygon's decision, released the creature and bestowed upon it a new purpose – to use its powers for good and maintain harmony in the land. And so, Draygon became the guardian of the Magic Cutlass, using its newfound enlightenment and magical abilities to protect the artifact and ensure the well-being of the world. The creature's journey had transformed it from a power-hungry being to a noble protector, forever destined to safeguard the balance between magic and reality..
