Remington and the Curse of the Flesh Hungry In the small town of Willow Creek, an ancient curse has plagued the townsfolk for centuries. The curse, known as the Flesh Hungry, is said to have originated from a powerful witch who was rejected by the townspeople. Legend has it that the witch, named Morgana, put a spell on the village, causing a hunger that could only be satiated by consuming human flesh. For years, the townspeople lived in fear, always on the lookout for signs of the curse. It was said that those affected by the curse would have a insatiable hunger that could not be satisfied with traditional means of nourishment. Instead, they would resort to consuming the flesh of those around them.

Yet, Amber's journey goes beyond artistry. Alongside her partner, she embraces a homesteading lifestyle—a deliberate choice to live harmoniously with nature. From cultivating their own produce to fostering a sustainable existence, their homesteading journey embodies the return to a simpler, more authentic way of living.

Although green is found abundantly in nature, especially here on the Emerald Isle , there is no one plant that gives you a rich deep green directly from the dye pot. Amber, a passionate natural dyer, weaver, and homesteader, stands as a testament to the beauty and serenity that can be found when we immerse ourselves in the wonders of nature.

Weaving life’s tapestry…

Sharing my journey of artistry, homesteading, and weaving the magic of Nature into everyday life.

In a world driven by technology and fast-paced living, there are those who find solace in reconnecting with the natural world. Amber, a passionate natural dyer, weaver, and homesteader, stands as a testament to the beauty and serenity that can be found when we immerse ourselves in the wonders of nature.

Amber's journey began with a deep appreciation for the intricate beauty of the world around her. From the delicate petals of flowers to the rugged textures of rocks, every element of nature captivated her senses and fueled her creativity. It's this awe-inspiring connection that led her to establish "Yarn and Thyme," a platform where her artistic endeavors come to life.

Drawing inspiration from the very essence of nature, Amber's art is a reflection of her admiration for the world's unique marvels. She has perfected the art of working with plants to create natural dyes, which she uses to infuse yarn with vibrant colors that nature itself would be proud of. Crafters and creators alike are drawn to her yarn, as each strand tells a story of organic beauty and artistic dedication.

But Amber's artistic prowess doesn't stop at yarn. She breathes new life into upcycled clothing through her innovative dyeing techniques, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. And then there's her woven art, where her intricate designs and patterns mirror the complexity found in the natural world. Each piece is a labor of love, a homage to the very world that inspires her.

In this blog post I’ll share with you the range of shades I made with red onion skins. Such a simple dye plant yields a wide range of colours. It never fails to amaze me! The methods I use are from my book Botanical Colour at your Fingertips, which is available as a paperback and also a digital download. It’s an introductory guide to dyeing cellulose fabric and yarn with homemade plant dyes. Onion skins are one of the dye plants I use in my book. The dyeing methods can be adapted to suit whichever plants you have at your fingertips. In fact, I encourage you to experiment and learn to dye in an intuitive way.

They had lived in Willow Creek for as long as anyone could remember and had suffered greatly under the curse. It seemed that no matter what they tried, they could not escape the curse's grasp. Each generation of Remingtons had stories of their loved ones turning into flesh-hungry monsters, forced to leave the town in search of human flesh to satiate their hunger. The current head of the family, Samuel Remington, was determined to break the curse once and for all. He had spent years studying ancient texts and consulting with experts on curses and witchcraft. Samuel discovered that in order to break the curse, he would have to find the original source of the curse, Morgana herself, and put an end to her reign of terror. Armed with this knowledge, Samuel set off on a dangerous journey to find Morgana's lair. He traveled through treacherous forests, crossed murky swamps, and faced many obstacles along the way. Finally, after months of searching, he stumbled upon a hidden cave that was rumored to be Morgana's hideout. Samuel cautiously entered the cave, his heart pounding with anticipation. As he delved deeper into the darkness, he could feel a malevolent presence surrounding him. Just as he thought he would have to turn back, he came upon a chamber filled with ancient artifacts and a decrepit figure sitting on a throne. It was Morgana, the witch who had created the curse. Samuel approached her, determined to end the curse once and for all. With bravery and conviction, he confronted her, demanding that she release the town of Willow Creek from her curse. Morgana laughed, a cold and chilling sound that echoed through the chamber. She told Samuel that the curse was too powerful to be broken, that it was a part of the town's destiny. However, Samuel refused to accept defeat. He pleaded with Morgana, telling her about the suffering and pain that the curse had caused. Moved by Samuel's words, Morgana hesitated. She had never considered the consequences of her actions and had become consumed by her own power. In that moment, she realized the error of her ways and made a decision that would change everything. Morgana used her remaining magic to lift the curse from the town of Willow Creek. As the curse was lifted, the townspeople felt a wave of relief wash over them. The Remingtons, who had long borne the burden of the curse, were finally free. From that day forward, Willow Creek thrived without the curse. The town became a beacon of hope, an example of how resilience and determination can overcome even the most powerful curses. Samuel Remington was hailed as a hero, his name forever etched in the town's history. And so, the curse of the Flesh Hungry was no more, but the tale of Remington and the curse would forever be remembered, a testament to the power of love, bravery, and the pursuit of freedom..
