[Blog Tour] The Witch Collector by Charissa Weaks, Q&A With the Author of This Beautifully Icy Fantasy!

A beautifully written fantasy, iced over with complex magic systems, dangerous undercurrents, and an enemies to lovers romance. It’s full of villages, witch magic and god knives, ancient customs and feasts, and frost stealing across the earth. I also absolutely adored that it has disability rep, with Raina unable to speak verbally and instead using fantasy-sign-language!! More of this in fantasy please 😍🙌🏻 This is definitely not a book to miss if you love thrilling romantic fantasy adventures with complex subplots. Perfect for fans of Naomi Novik and Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Hi Charissa! Thanks for chatting with me today about your novel, The Witch Collector! Can you tell us a little about your publishing journey and how your book went from idea to finished novel?

Hi there! Thanks for having me 🙂 I’ve been writing forever, but haven’t pursued publishing my work until the last five years. Back in 2017, I decided to put together an anthology based around the Wheel of the Year/pagan festivals. The old ways are very interesting to me. The first anthology’s theme was vampires and was set around the Winter Solstice. That book published in December of 2018 and contained short stories, novelettes, and novellas from all genres and many talented authors. I knew that the 2019 volume would center around Mabon/Autumnal Equinox and witchcraft/witches. So the seeds for The Witch Collector were born then. Once I wrote the novella though, I could see the larger story. I published The Witch Collector in the 2019 anthology and later contracted all three novellas with City Owl Press. The plan was to expand The Witch Collector a little and keep all three novellas around 45K words each. At the time, novellas seemed like all I could manage. I was a caregiver to my father, and the time and mental energy to turn the tale into a trilogy of full-length novels didn’t exist. My father passed in 2020, and I had to postpone the novella’s release. In the months after my dad’s death, I poured myself into Raina Bloodgood’s world to help busy my mind as I coped with the loss, and before I knew it, I had a 400-page novel on my hands. Thankfully, my publisher was cool about this and now here we are.

What’s your favourite thing about writing fantasy?

I love creating worlds for readers to slip into. For myself, as a reader and writer, fantasy is an escape. When I’m writing, I get caught up in the story I’m developing. I can’t imagine not having these lush worlds to lose myself inside.

Creating worlds is honestly the best ✨😍 Do you have a favourite moment from your publishing journey so far?

There have been several. It’s tough to choose between getting my first gushy reader review and holding the hardback. I am so thankful for everything that has happened during the unexpected journey of this story.

That first moment of holding your own book 😭👌🏻 So special. How did you choose your character names? Do they ever change as you write?

I am so weird on this. For me, stories arrive in my head because the characters already exist. It’s like they’re floating around in the ether looking for a writer to tell their story. When they find me, it’s like they whisper in my ear: “Hi, I’m so and so. These are my friends and this is our tale, and you’re going to tell it.” Sometimes I have to dig for the names of supporting cast members, but most names just pop into my head with a fully-formed character attached.

That is very very helpful of your characters to do that 😂 So tell us your favourite thing about Raina Bloodgood!

I adore Raina. I suppose my favorite thing is that she is so fierce. She loves and hates with the fire of a thousand suns. She can provide warmth and light or she can burn you to ash. Literally.

It’s impossible not to adore Raina. I loved her from the first page ahhh. Now lastly! Was any chocolate harmed in the making of this novel? 😌

HAHA. Sadly, SO MUCH chocolate was sacrificed to the Writing Gods. You have no idea. But my waistline does 😉

Is it possible to write without chocolate anyway 😪👌🏻 That’s the real question. Thank you so much for the super fun interview, Charissa!! And congrats again on your beautiful novel 🤗.

Book #3, The Wolf and the Witch, released March 28th, 2023
Rpgbkt rune knight

In addition to offensive capabilities, Rune Knights also have defensive abilities thanks to their runes. The Stone Rune, for instance, can create a protective barrier around them, boosting their armor and reducing incoming damage. The Healing Rune can also be used to restore health to themselves or their allies. Rune Knights can further enhance their abilities by leveling up and gaining new abilities. They can also combine runes to create more powerful effects. For example, combining the Fire and Frost Runes can create a powerful explosion, damaging all nearby enemies. To become a Rune Knight, players must undertake a series of quests and trials to prove their worth. Only those with a deep understanding of magic and combat can unlock the secrets of the runes. Once they have become a Rune Knight, they can continue to explore and discover new runes to add to their repertoire. In conclusion, the Rpgbkt Rune Knight is a unique and powerful character class in role-playing games. With their mastery of runes, they can unleash devastating attacks and protect themselves and their allies. Players who choose to play as an Rpgbkt Rune Knight will find themselves at the forefront of battle, wielding both sword and magic with equal skill..

Reviews for "The Ultimate Guide to Building a Powerful Rpgbkt Rune Knight Character"

1. Emily - 2 stars - As a fan of RPGs, I was really looking forward to trying out "Rpgbkt rune knight" and was ultimately disappointed. The gameplay felt repetitive and the storyline was lackluster. The character customization options were limited, making it difficult to truly immerse myself in the game. Additionally, the graphics were outdated and did not match the quality of other RPGs I have played. Overall, "Rpgbkt rune knight" fell short of my expectations and I would not recommend it to other gamers.
2. James - 1 star - I found "Rpgbkt rune knight" to be a complete waste of time and money. The controls were clunky and unresponsive, making it frustrating to navigate through the game. The combat system lacked depth and strategy, making battles feel dull and predictable. The dialogue was poorly written and the voice acting was subpar. It's clear that little effort was put into the development of this game, and as a result, it was a forgettable and disappointing experience.
3. Sarah - 3 stars - While "Rpgbkt rune knight" had its moments, overall, I found it to be a mediocre RPG at best. The storyline had potential, but it was poorly executed, leaving me feeling disconnected from the characters and their motivations. The interface was confusing and it took me a while to figure out how to perform basic actions. The game also had a number of bugs and glitches, which further hindered my enjoyment. While I appreciate the effort that went into creating "Rpgbkt rune knight", it unfortunately fell short in delivering a truly engaging and memorable RPG experience.
