How could my life have changed so quickly. I never asked for more than I had. I was content with my lot in life, and I hoped one day to have a mate to love me as much as my parents loved one another. I'd never have that. I'd never have a mate. I don't think I could live with that fate. When I finally leave the greenhouse the faint sliver of daylight is starting to show on the horizon. I take a deep breath and steel myself for what I have to do and begin the trek to my home. Life will never be the same for me. I know that now, and it is time to take charge of my own life.
