The Symbolism and Meaning Behind Vinicius: The Official Mascot of the 2016 Olympics

By admin

The official Olympics mascot for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games was called Vinicius. Vinicius was a brightly colored creature with a mix of different Brazilian animals. He had the head of a cat, the body of a monkey, and the feet of a bird. Vinicius was named after the famous Brazilian musician Vinicius de Moraes, who was known for his creativity and imagination. This mascot was chosen to represent the diversity and creativity of Brazilian culture. Vinicius was shown wearing a green and yellow Olympic medal, as well as various accessories representing different Olympic sports.

The Paralympic mascot is a unique mixture of the Brazilian flora. He is able to constantly transform, with determination and joy growing and overcoming obstacles. In addition to practising Paralympic sports, he is constantly on the move. He believes there is no obstacle too hard to overcome. He can pull anything from his big head of leaves to solve even the hairiest of problems. As the ambassador of the Paralympic Games, he will teach others to bring out their best.

The names of Vinicius and Tom are recognised worldwide as a synonym for excellence, which is in line with what we want to achieve with the Rio 2016 Games. The green hair represents Brazil s nature, but sort of looks like something that would be enjoyed by people in Colorado and Oregon, if you catch my drift.

Meet the mascots for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio

Believe it or not, but the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro are just two years away.

On Monday, organizers for the event unveiled the mascots for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games: A cat and a tree.

Well OK, it's not actually a cat and a tree.

The cat-like animal, which will serve as the official mascot of the Olympic games, is a mixture of all the Brazilian animals, and according to its bio, it was born out of an explosion of joy when Rio was awarded the games in 2009. Also, it has special powers:

I can stretch and stretch and stretch myself, as much as I want. And since I’m a mixture of Brazilian animals, I can do all the best things they can do: I can run faster, jump higher and be stronger. I can also imitate the voice of any animal – I’m super-communicative.

Like the Olympic mascot, the Paralympic representation is a fusion of all the different plants in Brazil. Apparently, this artichoke-looking mascot enjoys music and dancing.

I play all Paralympic sports. And I make the most of living in Rio by playing a lot and adventuring outdoors! When I’m not running around, I like to open a book and learn about the world. I also love samba and all kinds of Brazilian music. I enjoy making friends and sharing what I know. My best friend is the Rio 2016 Olympic Games mascot.

Neither mascot has an official name, but the organizing committee is allowing fans to vote. The three choices are "OBA and EBA," "TIBA TUQUE and ESQUINDIM," and "VINICIUS and TOM"

Sadly, "MR. WHISKERS and ARTICHOKE HEAD" did not make the final cut.

The mascots of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been named Vinicius and Tom following a three week public vote.
