Nicolas was a young wizard who had been studying magic for several years. He had always been fascinated by spells and incantations, and he was eager to learn as much as he could. One day, while reading an ancient book of spells, Nicolas came across a particularly interesting one. It was called the "Ribbon of Ribbons" spell. According to the book, the "Ribbon of Ribbons" spell was a powerful enchantment that could only be cast by using a specific ingredient – a rib bone from a magical creature. Nicolas was intrigued by the spell and determined to try it out for himself.

There are noncombat encounters galore the entire second part of chapter one doesn t really have any fighting, just a lot of persuading and characterization of a City Gone Mad. Curse of the Crimson Throne isn t just a random expansion that trades on love for an existing story it s a fun expansion in its own right that does a great job embodying elements of the adventure path.
Nicolas was intrigued by the spell and determined to try it out for himself. He set out on a quest to find a magical creature and eventually stumbled upon a rare and elusive creature known as the Seraphim. As luck would have it, the Seraphim had just shed one of its ribs, and Nicolas managed to obtain it without harming the creature.
RPG Review – Curse of the Crimson Throne
Curse of the Crimson Throne, perhaps one of the greatest Pathfinder Adventure paths is back in a big way.
Curse of the Crimson Throne is a classic Adventure Path put out by Paizo back before Pathfinder was Pathfinder. It was innovative with its sweeping narrative of dying kings, plagued cities, crime lords, barbarian guardians, corrupt queens, and dark ascensions. It introduced adventurers to Korvosa, a kingdom that had long suffered under the Curse of the Crimson Throne–so called because not a single ruler has ever died of old age or left an heir.
And now Paizo has collected the six (six!) disparate volumes into one gorgeous new hardcover book. What’s more, they’ve updated and revised it so that now it uses Pathfinder’s rules in their entirety, including new stats for monsters, new maps, and even new adventure content. In honor of its release–and the accompanying audio adventures we’re reviewing the adventure path for you.

I remember the heady days of the open playtest when 3.5 was coming to an end and both Pathfinder and 4th Edition were on the horizon. Flipping through this adventure path is a little like stepping back in the development cycle a little. You can see some of the ideas that were being developed (both for Pathfinder and for 4th Edition) present in the adventure path–combat feels more action-oriented and dynamic, there are things akin to skill challenges. But how do all those ideas hold up?

Excitedly, Nicolas returned to his study and prepared to cast the "Ribbon of Ribbons" spell. The spell required him to focus his magical energy through the rib bone and recite a series of incantations. With great concentration and precision, he performed the spell exactly as described in the book. As Nicolas chanted the incantations, he could feel the magical energy building within him. Suddenly, a shimmering light enveloped the rib bone, and Nicolas could see ribbons of all colors swirling around it. It was a beautiful and enchanting sight. With a final burst of energy, Nicolas released the ribbons into the air, and they began to dance and weave around the room. Each ribbon seemed to possess its own unique magical properties, and Nicolas could sense their power. Overwhelmed by the spectacle, Nicolas could hardly believe that he had successfully cast such a complex spell. It was a testament to his dedication and skill as a wizard. From that day forward, Nicolas's "Ribbon of Ribbons" spell became one of his most prized magical abilities. He would often use it to create beautiful and intricate displays of magic, dazzling audiences with his skill and talent. But more than that, Nicolas's experience with the spell taught him an important lesson about the power of magic. It showed him that with the right knowledge and ingredients, he could achieve extraordinary things. Nicolas continued to explore the world of magic, always seeking new spells and enchantments to add to his repertoire. And though he cast many more spells throughout his lifetime, he would never forget the day he cast a magical spell using his ribs..

I was really disappointed with "Nicolas casts a magical spell with his ribs". The writing was confusing and the plot felt disjointed. The whole concept of using ribs for magic seemed forced and unrealistic. The characters lacked depth and I found it hard to care about what happened to them. Overall, this book was a letdown and I would not recommend it to others.
