Magical traditions have long been an integral part of the culture and history of black Africans. These traditions are deeply rooted in their spiritual beliefs and practices, playing a significant role in their day-to-day lives. **Magical traditions in black African cultures encompass a wide range of practices, including divination, healing, and the use of charms and amulets**. Divination is a major component of magical traditions in black African cultures. It involves seeking guidance and insight from spiritual entities or ancestors. Diviners, who are highly respected and regarded as intermediaries between the physical and spiritual realms, use various methods such as throwing bones, shells, or interpreting dreams to gain knowledge and provide guidance for individuals or communities.

I tried an $11 lipstick that claims to be smudge-proof, and it worked so well that I had trouble taking it off

Redeem now
  • NYX recently launched its Shine Loud High-Shine Lip Color, an $11.50 lipstick and lip-gloss combo that's said to be transfer-proof.
  • I tested three shades and found that the lipsticks didn't transfer, even after wearing a mask and eating fast food.
  • I also appreciate that the lip products are vegan, inexpensive, and sold in a wide variety of shades.
  • Though I wouldn't consider them my all-time favorite lip products, I would recommend them to people looking for long-lasting color.

Beauty products are always going viral on TikTok, but few have piqued my interest quite like the Shine Loud High-Shine Lip Color from NYX.

According to the brand's website, the $11.50 product is meant to create bold lip looks that are both glossy and smudge-proof. It's also vegan and meant to last for up to 16 hours. Though that description sounded too good to be true when I first read it, numerous TikTok users have sworn in recent videos that the lipstick-lip-gloss hybrid delivers on its promises.

That being said, I knew I had to try it for myself. Here's how NYX's newest lip product worked in my experience, from wearing it while working to seeing how it held up after lunch.

Diviners, who are highly respected and regarded as intermediaries between the physical and spiritual realms, use various methods such as throwing bones, shells, or interpreting dreams to gain knowledge and provide guidance for individuals or communities. Divination is believed to reveal hidden information, predict the future, and offer advice on matters such as marriages, health, or business ventures. Healing is another essential aspect of black African magical traditions.

NYX recently released a glossy lip product that's said to be smudge-proof — and TikTok users can't get enough of it

I first came across the Shine Loud High-Shine Lip Color at the end of December when makeup artist Stephanie Valentine reviewed the product on TikTok. She first showed herself applying the matte lipstick and shiny, oil-infused topcoat, and later revealed that she was able to press her fingers against her lips without transferring any color.

In the following days, I came across similar videos from countless others, including makeup artists, beauty enthusiasts, and even skeptics who all tried and seemingly loved the product.

At the time of writing, the Shine Loud High-Shine Lip Color is sold in 24 shades ranging from simple nudes to bright blues and purples. All shades but two are currently sold out on the NYX website, though others can be found through Ulta Beauty and at stores where NYX products are sold.

Traditional healers, also known as shamans or witch doctors, possess the knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat various ailments affecting the body, mind, or spirit. These healers use a combination of natural remedies, spiritual rituals, and herbal medicines to restore balance and harmony within an individual. They often work closely with ancestors or spirits to channel their healing powers and address the root causes of illness. The use of charms and amulets is also prevalent in black African magical traditions. Charms are objects imbued with supernatural powers and are believed to offer protection, bring good fortune, or ward off evil spirits. These charms may be made from various materials such as animal bones, shells, stones, or herbs. Amulets, on the other hand, are objects that are worn or carried by individuals to provide specific benefits or ward off negative energies. They are intricately designed and may incorporate symbols, colors, or patterns that hold significant spiritual meaning. Magical traditions in black African cultures are deeply ingrained in their societies and are passed down through generations. They are seen as a way to maintain a connection with their ancestors, spirits, and the divine. Despite the influences of modernization and globalization, these practices continue to thrive and play a vital role in many black African communities, providing spiritual guidance, healing, and protection..
