The White Witch's Enchanting World: A Manga Adventure

By admin

One popular genre in manga is stories about witches, and among them is a subset focused specifically on the white witch. These manga typically revolve around a central character who is a white witch, possessing the ability to use magic for healing, purification, and other benevolent purposes. The main idea in these stories is the exploration of the white witch's journey, often depicting their struggle to find their place in a world where witches are often feared or misunderstood. In these manga, the white witch is usually portrayed as a kind and compassionate individual who uses their powers to help others and bring about positive change. They may face various challenges and obstacles along the way, as they navigate through both the magical and human realms. The narratives often emphasize themes of love, friendship, and the power of good.

To people like Angellé, those coming to witchcraft from TikTok don't understand the deep history and knowledge that more experienced practitioners might have with the culture. Trying these spells, to Angellé, is like having "a tree with no roots." She said she calls out these TikToks because, according to her beliefs, casting spells in ways she perceives as "incorrect" can have outcomes that differ from spell-casters' intentions.

It s not just supposed spells about love Angellé pointed to the hundreds of videos about weight loss, getting someone to text you back, and making money that one can find on the app. The TikTok, which is one of hundreds on her account teaching followers simple spells, has since been viewed more than 20 million times and received 1.

The narratives often emphasize themes of love, friendship, and the power of good. Additionally, the white witch's interactions with other magical beings, such as fairies or other witches, play a significant role in these stories, adding an element of fantasy and enchantment. The art style in these manga is typically vibrant and whimsical, with detailed illustrations of magical landscapes and intricate spellcasting scenes.

If you’re on TikTok, chances are you’ve already scrolled past a WitchTok video on your travels. From good-luck spells to manifestations and protection potions, WitchTok takes its cues from traditional witchcraft and has swiftly become one of the most popular alternative wellness movements online. Originating in 2019, #WitchTok has racked up more than 1.7 billion views to date.

The trend comes out of a wider cultural movement towards the occult, with people increasingly turning towards astrology, numerology, tarot reading, crystal healing, and other mystical practices as they search for answers in an uncertain and chaotic world. “WitchTok, like most other emerging trends on social media, is the real-time snapshot of human behaviour and mindset trends,” explains Natalie Black, trend forecaster and director of strategy and insights at Hierarchy.

“If you look at the current culturescape, human beings, especially our younger generations, are experiencing massive upheaval and uncertainty. What better way to take back control than to align yourself with a movement that is about harnessing your inner power, controlling your own reality, connecting to the higher senses and nature? That is WitchTok in a nutshell.”

What separates WitchTok from other mystical trends, however, is that it originated online and is founded on a sense of community. There’s an openness among users whereby they encourage one another to share spells, look out for each other and teach newcomers, referred to as baby witches, how to become better witches. There’s even been a trend for Black Lives Matter protection spells, so people can shield themselves and their loved ones when going out to protest.

“One interesting note about WitchTok is that it underscores the importance of connection and community,” says Black. “That is a direct response to how things were before (separate and individualistic) and how we will survive as a human race now (togetherness, mindfulness).” Amid a global pandemic and social unrest, WitchTok serves as a symbol of hope and community, one that allows people to come together and project positivity. Isn’t that what we all need right now?
