I just finished watching this movie, and holy cow, it's truly one of the best found-footage horrors out there. It's so creepy; I highly recommend it to anyone looking for obscure, creepy found-footage horror (You can watch it completely free on Youtube !). My take is this: Junko ishii was possessed by Kagutaba during the final ritual; the demon then latched onto her and used her to resurrect him, which she did. She kidnapped Kana, used her as a medium, fed her the aborted fetuses and was successful in resurrecting Kagutaba (whether her 'son' was a normal boy she kidnapped to use as a physical body for the demon, or the demon itself, is never clarified). Once Junko commits suicide, the demon begins looking for another 'caretaker', that's where Hori, the psychic, comes in. During the film's climax (where we briefly see the demon's face), it possesses Hori and makes him its new 'caretaker' (it had previously tried to possess Mariko -during her first visit to the shrine and then at the dam- but she was the only one that actually completed the ritual and thus was spared, I think).
