De La Soul has officially released their 1989 3 Feet High and Rising single "The Magic Number" to streaming services.

De La Soul has finally brought "The Magic Number" to streaming services. Over a year since the song was featured in the end credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home, "The Magic Number" makes De La Soul's first digital release from their back catalog, which is expected to come to DSPs in full on March 3. The date also marks the 34th anniversary of the group's 1989 debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, which is being pressed as a double album, available on black, magenta and yellow vinyl.

"The Magic Number" will also be available a cassette and 7-inch single, the latter which is now sold out.

In a recent interview with Billboard, De La Soul acknowledged how fans from the late 1980s have passed their music “down to their children” while it remained off streaming platforms, as well as the significance of the group’s 1989 single “The Magic Number."

“In my DMs, a person was like, ‘Yo, after [“The Magic Number” appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home], I couldn’t find it, then my grandfather pulled out his [record] and showed me,’” Posdnuos said. “I know my age, but I still feel like I’m cool as shit, so this is weird that I could be a grandfather. [Laughs.] But it’s all coming together, and it’s great that the music that needs to be up [on streaming] will be there.”

Acquired by Reservoir Media as part of its acquisition of De La Soul's catalog on Tommy Boy Records, Reservoir will distribute the catalog via its Chrysalis Records. Led by Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Lascelles, the Chrysalis team will embark on a marketing campaign for De La Soul’s back catalog, complete with key events and activations.

De La Soul release 1989 single ‘The Magic Number’ on streaming platforms

American hip-hop trio De La Soul have finally released their 1989 hit single ‘The Magic Number’ on streaming platforms.

The cut arrived on digital platforms today (January 13), more than 30 years since it first featured on the group’s debut album ‘3 Feet High And Rising’. The track regained popularity after it appeared in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

To further celebrate the occasion, the trio — comprising Posdnuos, Trugoy, and Maseo — released a limited-edition 7″ vinyl, cassingle and digital download, all available via band’s website. They’ve also shared an accompanying animated lyric video to mark the single’s digitalisation, courtesy of agency F That — check it out below.

It comes a week after De La Soul announced they’ll be releasing their entire discography on streaming platforms this year, to celebrate the 34th anniversary of ‘3 Feet High And Rising’.

At present, only the group’s three most recent albums are available on Spotify — 2004’s ‘The Grind Date’, 2012’s ‘First Serve’ and 2016’s ‘And The Anonymous Nobody…’. However, on March 3 this will expand to include their aforementioned debut LP, plus 1991’s ‘De La Soul Is Dead’, 1993’s ‘Buhloone Mindstate’, 1996’s ‘Stakes Is High’, 2000’s ‘Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump’ and 2001’s ‘Art Official Intelligence: Bionix’.

De La Soul’s classic albums were initially withheld from streaming platforms due to a dispute with their label Warner Records, who allegedly claimed that the samples featured on them were only cleared for physical media distribution.

In 2017, the trio’s catalogue was purchased by Tommy Boy Records and set for digital release, however, a royalties dispute with the label further delayed this. In 2021, after Tommy Boy was acquired by Reservoir Media, De La Soul announced they’d come to an agreement that enabled them to digitally release their music (though the original timeline was for November that same year).

The hip-hop collective will be touring the UK in April, playing shows in London, Glasgow, Nottingham and Manchester. Tickets for the dates can be purchased here.

De La Soul’s Entire Catalog Coming to Streaming Services

The rap trio and Reservoir Media announced Tuesday that the group's first six albums, including its platinum-selling 1989 debut, '3 Feet High and Rising,' will be available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital platforms March 3.

Reviews for "The Magic Misty Crystal Ball: Unlocking Hidden Knowledge"

1. Samantha - ★☆☆☆☆
I was extremely disappointed with the "Magic Misty Crystal Ball." The product description made it seem like it could accurately predict the future, but all it did was give random, generic answers to my questions. The ball's responses lacked any meaningful insight or guidance, and it felt like a complete waste of money. I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for genuine mystical enlightenment.
2. Michael - ★★☆☆☆
I purchased the "Magic Misty Crystal Ball" hoping it would provide some fun and entertainment during gatherings with friends. Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The ball's answers were often vague and ambiguous, making it difficult to engage in interesting and stimulating conversations. The novelty of the product quickly wore off, and I found it to be rather dull and unimpressive. I would suggest exploring other options for party games or conversation starters.
3. Emily - ★☆☆☆☆
The "Magic Misty Crystal Ball" was a complete letdown. It claimed to possess mystical powers and provide accurate predictions, but it was evident right from the start that it was nothing more than a cheap plastic toy. The ball's responses were inconsistent and illogical, leaving me more confused than enlightened. It was a waste of my time and money, and I would advise others to steer clear of this deceptive product.
4. Jonathan - ★★☆☆☆
I had high hopes for the "Magic Misty Crystal Ball" as I have always been fascinated by the supernatural. However, I was thoroughly disappointed with its performance. The ball's answers were often cliché and predictable, lacking any real depth or accuracy. It felt more like a gimmick than a serious divination tool. If you're seeking genuine mystical experiences, I would suggest exploring alternative methods or seeking guidance from experienced practitioners rather than relying on this subpar crystal ball.
5. Jennifer - ★☆☆☆☆
The "Magic Misty Crystal Ball" failed to live up to its claims of providing mystical insights. It simply gave generic, fortune cookie-like responses that were completely detached from reality. I was hoping for something more profound and thought-provoking, but all I got was disappointment. Save your money and avoid this novelty item if you're looking for genuine guidance or spiritual experiences.
