They really stand out amidst the barren desert. The art installation originally opened in May 2016. It was only supposed to be on view for two years but due to its overwhelming success, Seven Magic Mountains is now set to be available until the end of 2021. Seven Magic Mountains

There is an interesting art installation a few minutes south of Las Vegas. Seven Magic Mountains was created in 2016 by famed artist Ugo Rondinone to merge nature and art. It consists of seven massive pillars of rocks painted in various colors. It’s a short distance from the Las Vegas strip and is a very popular tourist destination.

Seven Magic Mountains can be seen from the freeway, but it is best accessed by taking the frontage road (see directions below). There is a large parking area, but it is often full because of the number of visitors to this site. If you go to the site, it is a short walk through the dusty sage brush to the base of the obelisks.

There are information signs about the artist and the artwork. There is a wide path out to the mountains, but it is not paved.

Though the towers are different sizes, they consist of four to seven large boulders each. They stand up to 35 feet high. The cool thing about the towers is that the colors are so stunningly vibrant. There are pinks, oranges, greens, blues, and silvers. Best of all, you can walk right around the towers and take pictures from different angles. We each took a picture with our favorite structure, and many people were doing the same.

We enjoyed walking right underneath the huge towers. Lots of people had stopped to take photos. We loved the bright colors.

From Las Vegas: Follow I-15 South to Sloan Rd (exit 25). Turn left (east) to Las Vegas Boulevard. Drive approximately 7 miles south on Las Vegas Blvd. and the artwork will appear on your left.

From Los Angeles: Drive north on I-15 to Jean, NV (exit 12). Turn right (east) on NV-161 toward Las Vegas Blvd. Drive approximately 5 miles north on Las Vegas Blvd and the artwork will appear on your right.
