Made from Magic

Made in her Image. Made from Magic. Made to Conquer. Made to Rule.

15 years ago, my father earned a life sentence for illegal Dark Magic experimentation. His test subject? Me. I’ve spent every day since, training to control the rare lightning magic he unlocked.

I swore to use this gift to protect all Elemental Witches from similar torture.

Now he’s escaped and Dark Magic Covens are threatening the safety of the Kingdom of Magic.

This reconnaissance mission should be a piece of cake. Lead an elite team to spy on one of the known covens. If only it didn’t also happen to include a certain prince with certain off-limits chemistry…

It should be a simple mission…but why do I feel like it could destroy everything I know about my Kingdom and my Magic?

Made from Magic is a New Adult Urban Fantasy featuring a strong female protagonist who knows she’s the sh*t, and a male love interest who would literally burn the world for her. Contains adult situations including violence and spicy romance…not in the same chapter…for the most part. Great for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash Ages 18+

Marianne A. Scott has been writing since she was a kid. When she was always singing, those stories appeared in song form, when she majored in acting, they appeared as screenplays, but novels and short stories were what she returned to when inspiration struck. Each and every story was driven by characters and love, and, most of the time, the hope that there was something fantastical about this world that us humans just haven't discovered yet.

When not writing, you can find her with her Kindle and a latte, sitting opposite her husband in their New Jersey home. In her other life, she teaches tiny humans how to sing, passing along her love of musical theater to the next generation.

The premise was very intriguing and enjoyable. The heroine though couldn’t hold my interest. She was great in the suspenseful scenes but her lovelife was all over the place.
There was insta lust between her and Archer but later a werewolf appeared and saved her and then there was another attraction scheming.
Moreover, the writing style and the dialogues weren’t that great and the single pov was monotonous.

Read this as an ARC so there will be NO spoilers…sorry not sorry, guess you’ll just have to pre-order it & read it!

Which BTW this book comes out 03/12!

Do you like werewolves, witches, magic, or anything to do with fantasy? Then this book is for you! New Adult contemporary fantasy romance!

Tropes include: Sassy MC who’s also the most powerful witch, chosen one from a forgotten prophecy, reverse body guard trope, forced proximity, dark haired love interest that is morally grey!

With all that being said let’s get into my review—I loved it, and I want more! Simple as that! I fell in love with the main character, love that her main love interest (the prince) is shy/awkward—but you can tell he is mysteriously a bad boy (and I feel I’ll get more of his true characteristics as the books evolve), and the plot is very interesting that it had me immediately going into the next chapter!

Marianne you did amazing things with this book and should be so proud! Can’t wait to read the others!

Okay I think this debut novel from Marianne Scott is really promising! However, it felt a little slow to start and I just wasn't as immersed as I could have been in the beginning. I really didn't like the insta-love on Archer's side. when he got jealous over our mysterious werewolf man rescuing Katie from the mermaid, I mean COME ON. Some of the dialogue and interactions seemed juvenile but I'm not sure if we ever got a clear age on Katie and Archer so it's hard to judge (I think she's supposed to be 20?). That said, the biggest thing I didn't like about this was their relationship. The plot is interesting enough to want to continue but as of right now, I'm rooting for the unknown werewolf and Katie to be together. Or literally anyone but her and Archer.

I felt vindicated in my distrust of Archer with E's commentary on how Katie hasn't said I love you back and how she's afraid that Archer is basically love-bombing her in order to lock her down. And then how he swooped in and started burning up and killing people to get to her? Yikes. I'm picking up too many red flags from Archer (and so is E apparently).

As I said before, I think this story has promise but is too underdeveloped to compare to ACOTAR and FBAA (as described at end of blurb). Hopefully though with books 2 and 3 we'll see some strengthened plot lines, more in depth world building, and a better romantic relationship for Katie.

I hated this book and was so glad when it was over.

More detailed review to come, but bottom line: don’t trust BookTok

I’m obsessed with this story! 1. Archer is hot🔥🔥🔥 in all ways of course. 2. Katie is an amazing badass superior stunning character. Excellent lead of the story. 3. The cliffhanger has me on the edge of my seat!

Made from Magic by Marianne A. Scott, is the first novel in the series. The main character is Kathryn (Katie) who is a badass high ranking captain in a superior (military-royal guard type organization). Not only is she a captain but she has extraordinary powers dark and light magic, which creates her elemental ⚡️ magic. She is a rare powerful beauty who has barely scratched the surface of her power and what is to come in her future. Asher is the “royal highness” Prince of the kingdom. Katie is his personal bodyguard for a prestigious dangerous mission. They form a romantic relationship and Katie works with Archer on his powerful magic 🔥.

The story leaves me breathless in many scenes, antsy in others. Highly recommend this series! 🔥🔥.5/5. Reverse bodyguard, touch her and ☠️, Strong FMC, Forbidden Relationship trope.

This was recommended to me and it just isn’t for me.
I like the plot of the book, the idea of the book is great to me. Strong female lead whom is a witch is sent to protect the prince on a mission while they both have struggles. The dialect and the book from the get go just isn’t my style and isn’t for me. The book jumps in with barley information or build up of the characters which made the book unappealing to me.

Loved this! It reads like alot of the top fantasy romances that everyone has read. In the best way! Lots of twists that keep you on your toes just when you think you know what's happening. WRONG plot twist! And I am dying to know the werewolf's name! Ugh!

I am so thankful to have be able to be a ARC reader for this book and it has been an amazing experience. And I have to say I highly recommend this book to anyone! It is so worth the read. I love the pilot line, it has lots of twists that are unexpected. The characters are so well thought out and have lots of development throughout the book! And I honestly can’t wait to see what happens next, it leaves you wanting more! If you like spicy fantasy novels that leaves you wanting more then this is the book for you!

Dnf on page 48! I just wasn’t into this book. The main character was annoying like oh yeah I’m the best I’m gonna sleep with everyone and stuff and the love interest was so confusing! Was he suppose to be strong or weak with his mind. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Read this as an ARC so no spoilers. Absolutely in love with the world building as well as the characters. No one is perfect and that’s exactly what I wanted. The story leaves you guessing and the different twists and turns are truly great. The main character has her flaws which makes for an interesting character readers will cheer for.

Fast paced. The first page grabs you with quite the opening. A well written reverse body guard trope and not to mention side characters such as a hot shape shifter. 👌

This is a 3.75 stars (rounded up in good reads) because although I really liked the book, the pacing for me felt a little inconsistent and it was a bit over the top with cliche, but those things are definitely subjective things. Either way, I liked the premise and I can’t wait to read more!

The premise and idea behind this book, I like. The terminology is a bit basic—elite Dragon squad of warriors, light and dark magic, and so on. But the concept is there.

The relationship between the male and female character is confusing. As is the female character’s reactions and movements as a high ranking official in an elite army. She is very weak when it is convenient to the plot or to the main male character. And very very strong (of course the strongest witch) when convenient for a fight. I think that is the most frustrating thing, is her flip floppy attitude, and how comfortable the author felt with underdevelopment of a strong female leader who is supposed to be forged in war and grit.

All in all, I did enjoy it once she stopped being so involved in her mission. Since the mission made no sense. Fun, however it isn’t the next up and coming fantasy.

Im left staring at my wall thinking abou how to rate this book.

The book is about a very powerful girl that has the power of lightning. She is very powerful and can do all sorts of powerful spells that most can only dream off. She is the most powerful witch in history and at 20 years old is already captain of the witch world army. She is badass, smart beautiful and have I mentioned very powerful??

Yeah, that’s about it 😂

The book is not very well written, specially because our protagonist suffers a severe case of special snowflake. She is awesome in everything she does, defeats all her enemies, gets more and more powerful trough out the book and etc.

The book wasn’t bad per se, but it was far from good. I read it and enjoyed it as much as I judged it lol

Some decisions taken by the MC just weren’t that logical - Im talking about you, miss “turn myself to the dark witches so that they can protect my bff” - and as the story progressed, I went from liking it to being mildly interest in it.

The MC has light and dark powers and that makes her “unique”, she also controls lightning, which no one else does, and honestly, some things were just so rushed and thrown in our faces! Like the fact that light witches are also rare/forbidden (her finding out her mom has light for raw power out of nowhere, and also her mom telling her she is the descendant of one of the original kings out of freaking nowhere are very great examples!)

And let’s talk about the love interest…. The prince. I liked him, and didn’t. We only get to see him through her eyes.. he doesn’t really have any depth (or any of the side characters really) and we don’t understand his motivations for when he flips and kills everyone with his crazy powerful fire magic. He is sweet, and something that bothered me was that he is firstly presented as this perhaps naive and shy person, just to have a completely different personality in the rest of the book 😂😂

The book development and the ending weren’t enough to make me want to continue the series even though I kinda wanted to know what happens… but at what cost, really?!

I gave this book a 5 ⭐

Non-spoiler review - OH MY GOODNESS! This book was amazing! I devoured it in one day.

“Made in her image,” the man chants. “Made from magic. Made to conquer. Made to rule.”

Marianna does a great job setting this story up. We get a bit of world-building (supernaturals in a contemporary setting so not a TON needed), great pacing, and overall good character developments. The story is a “reverse bodyguard” troupe as Kathryn, a Captain in the Dragons (an elite group of soldiers in the royal army) is tasked with keeping Prince Archer safe on a secret mission. Things do not go as planned and this book is definitely action-packed.

One thing that made me really like this book is Katie’s friendship with Edina (I love seeing friendships and secondary character development). I am not sold on Archer and we don’t know a lot about him really. The real MVP though is the storyline and development with Katie.
“You mourn innocent lives,” she answers my unasked question. “If we had attacked, you wouldn’t be feeling so guilty. You’re upset by the senseless violence.” She drops her voice to barely a whisper. “It’s an admirable quality. It makes you a good leader.”
Katie, our FMC, is a badass character. She is extremely powerful, smart, gorgeous, witty, and can kick ass.

It is a bit “insta love” but not TOO much. The spice in this is a 3.5, nothing wrong with it but nothing “one handed” worthy in my opinion. There is more towards the end of the book and I think it will get better in book 2.

This book ends on one heck of a cliffhanger and I couldn’t wait to dive into my ARC of book 2.

I don’t love Archer. Really at all. Who is this mystery werewolf? I want more of him. Archer started off kinda sweet, then with his anger at her getting help from the were when she could have died just made me lose respect for him, THEN he loses it, and how he acts seals the deal for me. I maybe softened a bit when he said it was her (I am always a sucker for a villain who will burn the world for his woman) but only a little because he still acts like an ass about it all. There is just something about him throughout the whole book - anger issue and controlling - but then ESPECIALLY after that ending that makes me hope he isn’t the main love interest!

I find it extremely disturbing that Fortnite Surf Watch Porn even exists. It's inappropriate and goes against the values that should be upheld in video games. This type of content is highly offensive and should not be allowed or made available to any audience. Epic Games needs to do a better job of monitoring and regulating this kind of explicit content to ensure the safety and well-being of their players.
2. Sarah - 2 stars
In my opinion, Fortnite Surf Watch Porn is a complete waste of time and adds no value to the gaming experience. It is highly inappropriate and does not align with the family-friendly nature that Fortnite is known for. I expected more from a game that is widely popular among young players. Developers should focus on creating content that is entertaining, challenging, and suitable for all ages rather than indulging in such explicit and unnecessary material.
3. Alex - 1 star
I stumbled upon Fortnite Surf Watch Porn while searching for a new game to play, and I was absolutely disgusted. The fact that there are people creating and consuming this kind of content is truly disturbing. This is not what the gaming community should be promoting or encouraging. I strongly urge Epic Games to take immediate action and remove such inappropriate material from their platforms to protect the integrity and reputation of their game.
4. Emily - 1 star
Fortnite Surf Watch Porn is a shameful addition to an otherwise enjoyable video game. It completely detracts from the overall experience and adds nothing of value. It promotes a negative and unhealthy portrayal of sexuality, which is particularly concerning considering the young age demographic that Fortnite attracts. I hope that Epic Games realizes the negative impact that this kind of content can have and takes steps to remove it from their game to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all players.
