The so-called witch is just a woman named Hannah Tupper, who had been run out of Massachusetts by Puritans for being a Quaker after being cruelly punished for her religion and is barely tolerated in Wethersfield by the Puritans there.
As the trailer unfolds, we see the transformative effect that these relationships have on Monte. His interactions with the young girls reignite his love for storytelling and inspire him to see the beauty in the world around him. The trailer showcases the bond that Monte forms with each of the girls, as he becomes a mentor and friend to them.
