Magic and Isiah have long been considered two of the greatest basketball players of all time. Both players had remarkable careers and are often compared to one another due to their skills, achievements, and the intense rivalry between their respective teams, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Pistons. The discussion between Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas took place during the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. The two players were temporarily able to set aside their differences and engage in an in-depth conversation about their careers, the challenges they faced, and the impact they had on the game of basketball. During their conversation, both Magic and Isiah shared their perspectives on the intense rivalry between the Lakers and the Pistons during the late 1980s. They acknowledged that their rivalry was fueled by their desire to be the best and win championships.

Disneyland’s Magic Key passes resumed sale on Wed. Jan. 10.

Magic Key passes are Disneyland’s annual pass system that went into place in 2021. Different from their previous system, guests are now required to make a reservation to enter the park regardless of their ticket or pass type. Disneyland implemented the new system as part of their COVID-era protocols to better regulate how many guests were attending the Anaheim theme park.

Prior to 2020, those with annual passes were able to come and go from the parks as they pleased, as long as it wasn’t a blackout day for their pass. Disneyland started experimenting with a reservation-only pass in 2019 with their Flex Pass. The $599 Flex Pass had just as many blackout days as their $1,149 Signature pass, with the main difference being that guests were required to make an advance reservation to visit the theme park.

Those who wanted to purchase the Magic Key passes this week were told to join the queue no earlier than 8:45 a.m. and that they would go on sale no earlier than 9 a.m.

However, things didn’t go as planned. As soon as the clock struck at 8:45 a.m., Disneyland’s website crashed.

Just before 9 a.m. some prospective buyers had some luck and were able to successfully join the queue while also sharing tips with others on how to join.

Once people were able to join the queue, they waited.

Throughout most of the day, Disneyland’s 9:38 a.m. message update for those in the queue remained the same, the Imagine Key’s, Enchant Key’s, Believe Key’s and Inspire Key’s were all still available to purchase.

In addition to the virtual queue, there was also a long wait for those renewing passes in person at the Anaheim theme park.

Those who were able to get a Magic Key pass took to social media to celebrate.

At 5:54 p.m. Disneyland updated those still in the queue that three of the four passes were sold out. The only pass that remained when the queue closed at 10 p.m. for the day was the Imagine Key pass, which is only available for Southern California residents with 90000 to 93599 zipcode.

While many wrere happy to have been able to purchase a Magic Key pass this time around, others weren’t so lucky.

The Inspire Key, Believe Key and Enchant Key remain available to renew for current Magic Key holders. Last year Disneyland started selling Magic Key passes again in April.

Here Are the Blockout Dates for Each Magic Key in Disneyland

Today is the day that Disneyland fans have been waiting for — the new Magic Key program is launching today! The Magic Key program is the replacement program for the resort’s Annual Pass system, which was discontinued at the beginning of this year.

If you haven’t decided which Key you want to purchase yet, or you’re wondering when you can book your first Park Reservation, you can check out the blockout calendar now on Disneyland’s website!

One of the major differences with Magic Key is that all “Keyholders” are required to book a Park Reservation ahead of each visit. Depending on which Key you have, you may be limited on when you can visit based on certain blockout dates.

Here’s a quick glimpse at the first day of Magic Key Park Reservation availability and blockout dates! The Dream Key, which comes with no blockout dates, looks to have full availability (as of this writing, Park Reservations can only be booked through November 23rd, 2021). Since the Magic Key program just launched, Park Reservations are widely available:

The next level Key is the Believe Key, which has certain Saturdays and holiday weekends blocked out:

Finally, the Imagine Key has the highest amount of blockout dates, but currently has wide-open Park Reservation availability for the dates that they can visit.

As is the case with Disney World, Park Reservation availability can change at any moment, so if you are planning on purchasing a Magic Key today, be sure to book those Park Reservation as soon as you know when you would like to visit Disneyland!

The day that Disneyland fans have been waiting for for months is finally here! Disneyland Magic Keys are on sale and Guests can once again purchase these annual passes that they have been waiting for since the old AP Program was ended in January. In addition to Magic Keys being ready for purchase, Disneyland’s Magic Key reservation calendar is also up and ready for bookings!

Guests who purchase Disneyland’s Dream Magic Key or the Believe Magic Key can hold up to six Disneyland Resort theme park reservations at one time. Guests who purchase the Enchant Key can hold up to four reservations and Southern California residents who purchase the Imagine Magic Key can hold up to two reservations at one time.

It is important to remember that theme park reservations for the Magic Keys are held on a rolling basis. This means that once Guests use one of their theme park reservations, they can immediately go onto the Disneyland website or the Disneyland app and make another reservation. Each Magic Key has its own reservation calendar as each Magic Key has different blackout dates associated with the Key — the Dream Magic Key does not have any blackout dates.

Since Magic Keys have only just gone on sale, all reservation dates for each of the four Magic Keys are still available at the time of publication. Reservations for all four Magic Keys can currently be made through November 23. Each day, a new reservation day will become available on the Magic Key reservation calendar. Reservations for both Disneyland and California Adventure can be made by clicking here!

Reservations only need to be made for the theme park that Guests wish to start their day at — either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure Park. Each Magic Key allows the Key Holder to Park Hop, but park Hopping is currently only allowed after 1 p.m.

Guests can access the Magic Keys reservation calendars to check availability by visiting the Disneyland website or clicking here. While Magic Key Holders can check availability with the Magic Key Calendar, reservations must be made with Disneyland’s traditional reservation calendar. Disney has not said at this time if they will limit the number of Magic Key Holders who can make reservations per day so Guests who have normal day passes can also be accommodated.

Magic key reservation calendar

I am hoping if some on here buy their keys today or in the next few days they can let the rest of us know how to access the reservation calendar. I am hoping you don't have to have the actual key first to see it. We have a real dilemma because we have 5 day hoppers and my older daughter only has a 3 day. We just found out last minute that she doesn't have to work those 2 extra days so she is now going to go with us. She was planning up upgrading her hopper to a key on her last day no matter what but it would sure be nice to see before she buys it if those next 2 days are available.

Just want to point out that the reservation availability for non-AP buckets has been fluctuating greatly. 1 park now gets access to Disneyland today again, park hoppers can now only start on DCA on Saturday and Hotel Guests have seriously limited availability for the weekend and start of next week.

My guess is that some people with tickets for today have upgraded to Magic Keys and some people have bought park hoppers for Saturday hoping to upgrade now that the Magic Key IT is proving to be as difficult as expected. Or, they are shuffling the reservation buckets around.

I don’t know what to make of the reservation calendar right now. I’m really surprised to see everything is still available for all ticket types. You would think former pass holders who have been away from the parks for a year and a half would be chomping at the bit to go the first days that the parks are open to them but here we are a day after passes went on sale and everything is wide open.

It’s really confusing because given the long queues yesterday to order you would think hundreds of thousands of people were processing, but if that were the case why aren’t they reserving? And if that’s not the case why the queues?

It’s giving me a false sense of hope that Saturday won’t be a crowded mess.

I thought it was surprising that every day was open, too, when comparing to when I had a FlexPass. Of course it's a different situation now in that anyone who goes to the park needs a reservation.

I think the hurry to buy was partially because there was some fake news about each Key type being limited in quantity and because anyone who buys in the first 66 days has gets a free pin and something. Even though I am not planning on going right away, I bought right away so I would be ready for a spontaneous visit if I get an urge to go to DL the next day. I have enough cash back on my credit card to cover the down payment and the pass doesn't start until I actually go. At any rate, I did book 4 reservations already.

So, I am surprised there isn't at least a Saturday or two gone.

But if you think about it…
1. This is traditionally a low-crowd time of year to begin with. (Having been at the parks on July 11 and then August 16 and 22, I can say that July had waaaaaaaay more people.) I think that's the main thing - there's plenty of potential capacity to work with.

2. Demand is spread out. A lot of new passholders visited yesterday… or are there today… or tomorrow… or Sunday… it’s not like anything particularly cool is happening on any one day. This is kind of like when park reservations went live back in April - Opening Day and June 4 (AC opening) “sold out” before toooo long, but otherwise demand was more spread out.

3. Disney is pretty incentivized to make the passes look good, so I'm sure they're offering as many reservations as possible right now.

4. A lot of people are wait-and-seeing on the passes. They want to check out how things go with reservations. They want to see how Genie+ affects things. I know a lot of locals who had bought the 3-day CA tickets and still have a day or two left, so they're using those, maybe they have an OBB, and they figure by then, they'll be able to see how things are going and maybe buy a pass.

They acknowledged that their rivalry was fueled by their desire to be the best and win championships. While they competed fiercely on the court, they also developed a mutual respect for one another's skills and determination. Magic and Isiah also reflected on the impact they had on the game of basketball beyond their playing careers.
