Greeb's Greatest Hits: A Compilation of the Colts' Mascot's Best Moments

By admin

The Indiana Colts mascot, greeb, is a beloved figure among fans of the football team. Greeb is a horse-like character who represents the spirit and energy of the Colts. The origins of greeb can be traced back to the team's early years when the Colts were based in Baltimore. The team originally had a live horse mascot named "Thunder," who would run around the field after the Colts scored a touchdown. However, due to safety concerns, it became impractical to have a live animal on the field during games. To solve this issue, the team decided to create a costumed mascot to take the place of Thunder.

Greenie lasted for almost 20 years as Tulane’s mascot. However, in 1964, the school decided to do away with the mischievous little boy — once described as being “the most accurate symbol that’s ever represented Tulane’s student body” — and replaced him with the mascot that would become synonymous with the program’s nickname.

That particular Tulane mascot was drawn up by local cartoonist John Chase who named his creation Greenie in reference to the nickname of the football program at that time. Although he held firm as the official Tulane mascot until the introduction of Riptide the Pelican in 1998, Gumby did come under attack from a pretender to the throne during the 1980s.

To solve this issue, the team decided to create a costumed mascot to take the place of Thunder. Thus, greeb was born. The character was designed to resemble a horse with blue and white colors, matching the Colts' team colors.

I was really disappointed with the Colts mascot, Greeb. I found the character to be quite dull and uninteresting. There was no charisma or energy that you would expect from a mascot. The design was also underwhelming, lacking creativity and originality. Overall, I was not entertained or impressed by Greeb and would not recommend wasting your time checking it out.

I had high hopes for the Colts mascot, but unfortunately, Greeb fell flat for me. The costume looked cheap and poorly made. It lacked the vibrant colors and details that usually make mascots engaging. Additionally, Greeb's movements looked awkward and unnatural. It was clear that there was not much thought put into the mascot's design and performance. I wish the Colts organization would consider redesigning their mascot to be more engaging and memorable.
