Fashion Finesse: Dressing Stylishly for the Chicago Magic Lounge

By admin

The Chicago Magic Lounge is a well-known venue for magic performances and entertainment in Chicago. It offers a unique and intimate experience for guests to enjoy the art of magic up close. As with any establishment, the Chicago Magic Lounge has a dress code that guests are expected to adhere to. The dress code at the Chicago Magic Lounge is described as "upscale casual." This means that while there is no strict formal dress requirement, guests are still expected to dress in a manner that reflects the elegance and atmosphere of the venue. For men, this typically means wearing a collared shirt and dress pants.

Converted from a 1940s-era, commercial laundry building, the Chicago Magic Lounge is a 7,200 square-foot, deco-style, state-of-the-art theater and lounge, featuring a 1930s-style, speakeasy performance bar, a 107-seat cabaret theater, and a formal close-up gallery named The 654 Club. Every inch is designed and polished in this elegant new nightclub.

The Chicago Magic Lounge is dedicated to the art of sleight of hand, prestidigitation, and Chicago's contribution to the magical arts. This is a one-of-a-kind experience that we cannot wait for you to experience.

For men, this typically means wearing a collared shirt and dress pants. While a full suit is not necessary, it is still considered appropriate and can add to the overall experience. Ties are also not required, but can add a touch of formality to the attire.

THE HARRY BLACKSTONE CABARET Theater

Our crown jewel, the 107-seat, Harry Blackstone Cabaret Theater features an unobstructed view from every section. The cabaret-style seating, with elevated rail and banquette areas on the main floor, allows for enjoying cocktails and small bites with maximum access to view the stage. The Harry Blackstone Cabaret Theater includes state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities, a projector, listening assist, wheelchair accessibility, and a Hammond organ.

THE 654 CLUB

Named after the famed 'Sam the Bellhop' routine, popularized by Chicago magicians Frank Everhart Sr. and Bill Malone, the 654 Club is a 43-seat, formal, close-up gallery. The performance space features raked theater seating, 4 removable seats for accessibility, side tables for cocktails, and magic ephemera from Chicago's past lining the walls.

The Chicago Round Table Library

Take in our first rate collection of magic literature and memorabilia. The bedrock of this collection comes from the Library of Walter Gibson, an American author and magician, who wrote over 100 books on magic. It has since been acquired by the Chicago Magic Lounge and is made available to the members of the Chicago Magic Round Table exclusively.

The Performance BAR (A.k.a. David’s Bar)

Chicago magic lounge dress code

It is important to avoid wearing casual or athletic attire such as t-shirts, jeans, sneakers, or shorts. For women, a dress, skirt, or dress pants are all acceptable choices. Blouses or tops should be slightly more formal and modest, with no excessive cleavage or revealing clothing. Just like with men, jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, or athletic wear should be avoided. Guests are encouraged to dress to impress but also to feel comfortable. The goal is to create a sophisticated and elegant ambiance within the lounge. It is important to note that the dress code is strictly enforced, so guests who do not adhere to it may be denied entry. Planning ahead and dressing appropriately will ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience at the Chicago Magic Lounge..

I was really disappointed with the Chicago Magic Lounge dress code. I understand that they have a certain atmosphere and want to maintain a classy vibe, but I felt like they took it way too far. They wouldn't let me in because I was wearing jeans and a nice blouse. It's not like I was in sweatpants or anything. I think they need to be more lenient and allow different styles of clothing.

I had such a terrible experience with the dress code at the Chicago Magic Lounge. I had heard great things about the venue and was excited to visit, but as soon as I arrived, they turned me away because I was wearing sneakers. I couldn't believe it! I had made a reservation, dressed my best, and yet they had such strict rules. It ruined my night and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to conform to their strict dress code.

While I understand that the Chicago Magic Lounge wants to maintain a certain ambiance, I found their dress code to be quite excessive. They didn't allow me to enter because I had a small logo on my shirt. I had to go all the way back to my car just to change my shirt before being let in. It's frustrating when a dress code is so strict that it takes away from the experience of enjoying the actual magic performances. I hope they consider being more flexible in the future.
