WILD IS THE WITCH

A young witch unintentionally releases a fatal curse in this frenemies-to-lovers romance.

The Foggy Mountain Wildlife Refuge on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula is the perfect place for Iris Gray and her mother, who, as witches, have a special affinity for helping animals but keep their magic secret. College intern Pike Alder, who assists at the sanctuary, has an incredible talent for getting under Iris’ skin and freely expresses his intense dislike and mistrust of witches. When she reaches her boiling point with his arrogance, Iris comes up with a spell to work through her frustration. Unfortunately, her magic goes awry, and the curse that should have burned away without impact instead goes into an injured owl that takes flight, leaving the sanctuary behind. With Pike accompanying her for safety at her mother’s insistence, Iris sets out into the forest to find the owl; if it dies before Iris can reverse the spell, the curse could burn Pike alive. The Pacific Northwest rainforest setting is palpable as the two trek through the backcountry in search of the owl, and their banter moves the story forward as romantic feelings start to build. Unfortunately, Iris’ repetitive internal dialogue, always reminding readers of the stakes, lessens any tension and makes subsequent scenes feel inevitable. Characters are cued as White.

A slow-burn romance but a burnout of a plot. (Fantasy romance. 13-18)

Reviews for "The Origins and Folklore Behind Witch Hand Votive Holders"

1. Jennifer - 2 stars: I was disappointed with the Witch Hand Votive Holder. The quality was subpar, and the hand shape was not very realistic. It looked more like a cheap plastic Halloween decoration rather than a stylish piece for my home decor. Additionally, the votive holder was not as sturdy as I had hoped, and it wobbled on my table. Overall, I expected more for the price and would not recommend this product.
2. Mark - 1 star: I really did not like the Witch Hand Votive Holder. The design was not appealing to me, and it felt more creepy than elegant. The hand sculpture was poorly made, with uneven fingers and a rough finish. It did not provide the desired mood or atmosphere, and the candlelight barely shone through. I ended up returning it because it did not meet my expectations.
3. Sarah - 2 stars: I was not impressed with the Witch Hand Votive Holder. The materials used felt cheap and the silver color looked tacky. The overall aesthetic was lacking, and it did not add any charm or style to my Halloween decor. It also didn't accommodate larger votive candles, limiting my options. Considering the price, I expected better quality and a more visually pleasing design. I would not purchase it again.
4. Michael - 2 stars: The Witch Hand Votive Holder fell short of my expectations. The hand shape looked poorly molded and lacked detail. It didn't offer a realistic or spooky feel, but rather looked like a poorly designed decoration. The holder itself was slightly tilted, and I had to place a small piece of paper underneath to keep it leveled. It definitely does not justify the price tag, and I would not recommend it to others.
5. Emily - 1 star: I regret purchasing the Witch Hand Votive Holder. The size was smaller than I anticipated, and the hand itself was quite fragile. The fingers easily snapped off, making it impossible to use as intended. The craftsmanship was poor, with visible seams and rough edges. It was definitely not worth the money, and I would advise against purchasing it.
