Wiccan festivals, also known as Sabbats, are important occasions for followers of the Wiccan religion to celebrate and honor the cycles of nature. In 2023, there are eight major Wiccan festivals that will be observed. The first festival of the year is Imbolc, which falls on February 2nd. Imbolc marks the beginning of spring and is a time to celebrate new beginnings and the return of the sun. It is associated with Brigid, the goddess of hearth and home. Next is Ostara, celebrated on March 20th, which corresponds with the spring equinox.

S hazam (Zachary Levi), as well as the rest of his family of superheroes have been labeled by the media as “The Philadelphia Fiascoes” due to their almost childlike naiveté in handling crisis situations. They may save lives, but they also cause a lot of property damage. Little does the world know that this is because they are all, on the inside, really just teenagers who were given their powers only a few years ago as seen in “Shazam!” (2019).
Due to Shazam’s unwitting destruction of the wizard’s staff, the barrier between our realm and the one of Greek mythology has vanished. This mistake allows Kalypso (Lucy Liu), Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Anthea (Rachel Zegler), also known as the ‘daughters of Atlas,’ to visit Earth and wreak death and destruction. But what are the ‘goddesses’ ultimate goal? Will the family of super-heroes become be able to thwart their sinister plans. And what will happen to Shazam’s alter ego or rather the teen within him, Billy Batson (Asher Angel), as he is about to turn 18 and must leave his foster family?
The plot of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is straight forward and all sub-plots, few that they are, tie back to either Shazam’s family or the aforementioned ‘daughters of Atlas’. Similar to DC films of late, the movie showcases the barest amount of exposition needed in order to transition to the next lengthy fight scene and features much material worth mentioning.
On May 1st, Beltane is observed, marking the midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. Beltane is a joyful celebration of fertility, life, and the union of the god and goddess. It is a time of dancing, feasting, and maypole dancing. Litha, also known as the summer solstice, occurs on June 21st and is the longest day of the year. It is a time to celebrate the power of the sun and the height of summer. Litha is associated with fire and is a time to honor the god and goddess in their full power. Lughnasadh, or Lammas, takes place on August 1st and is the first harvest festival of the year. It is a time to give thanks for the abundance of the earth and to celebrate the grain harvest. Lughnasadh also honors the god Lugh, who is associated with skills and craftsmanship. Mabon, the autumn equinox, falls on September 23rd and marks the beginning of fall. It is a time to give thanks for the harvest and to prepare for the coming winter. Mabon is associated with balance and is a time to reflect on the abundance in our lives. Samhain, the most well-known Wiccan festival, occurs on October 31st and is also known as Halloween or All Hallows' Eve. It is a time to honor the ancestors and to remember loved ones who have passed away. Samhain is associated with death and rebirth and is a time to reflect on the cycle of life. Finally, Yule, also known as the winter solstice, is celebrated on December 21st. It is the shortest day of the year and marks the return of the sun. Yule is a time to celebrate the rebirth of the god and to welcome the return of lighter days. In conclusion, Wiccan festivals in 2023 offer followers the opportunity to connect with nature, celebrate the changing seasons, and honor the gods and goddesses of the Wiccan tradition. Each festival has its own unique significance and provides a special opportunity for spiritual reflection and celebration..

1. John - 2/5 stars - I was really looking forward to attending Wiccan festivals 2023, but unfortunately, I was left disappointed. The organization of the event was lacking, with long lines and confusion at entry points. Additionally, the workshops and activities promised were underwhelming and lacked depth. I felt like I didn't get my money's worth, and I wouldn't recommend attending next year if they don't make significant improvements.
2. Emily - 1/5 stars - As someone who has attended several Wiccan festivals in the past, I was shocked by the quality of this event. The grounds were poorly maintained, which made it hard to navigate between different areas and locate the workshops. Moreover, the speakers and presenters seemed unprepared and lacked knowledge about the topics they were discussing. It was a huge disappointment overall, and I regretted spending my time and money on this festival.
3. Sarah - 2/5 stars - Wiccan festivals 2023 fell short in terms of organization and planning. The scheduling of activities was poorly managed, resulting in overlaps and missed opportunities to attend workshops and ceremonies. Additionally, the vendor area was limited and lacked variety, making shopping for Wiccan supplies and tools a frustrating experience. Although I appreciate the effort to bring the community together, I expected more from this event and wouldn't choose to attend again in the future.
4. Michael - 1/5 stars - Wiccan festivals 2023 left me feeling dissatisfied and discouraged. The overall atmosphere lacked energy and excitement, with a noticeable lack of community spirit. The food options were limited and overpriced, making it difficult to have a fulfilling experience. The entertainment provided was also lackluster and didn't live up to the promises made. I was left wondering if attending this festival was worth the time and money spent.
