The Magic Bynny: A Mysterious Relic with Healing Properties

By admin

Once upon a time, in a small village tucked away in the mountains, there lived a young girl named Lily. Lily was a free-spirited and imaginative child, always engrossed in her own little world of make-believe. She had a fondness for animals and spent most of her time outdoors, exploring and caring for the creatures that crossed her path. One sunny morning, as Lily ventured further than ever into the forest, she stumbled upon a magical bunny. The bunny had shimmering silver fur that seemed to sparkle under the sun's rays. Lily was instantly captivated by its enchanting beauty and delicate features.

Update 2: After some messing around with my printer (which has… quirks…) I got my cards printed! They look amazing!

Lily was instantly captivated by its enchanting beauty and delicate features. Curiosity taking over her, Lily cautiously walked towards the bunny, afraid it might run away. To her surprise, the bunny did not flinch and instead hopped closer to her.

Magic Item Cards

Lately I’ve been playing with the local Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer’s League again. It’s been fun dusting off the cobwebs of my character Scavo and remembering what kind of fun loot he found on his journeys. However, the magic item certificates provided with the adventures aren’t the prettiest. So I tried my hand at creating something nicer!

After searching online for some examples, I found DM Paul Weber’s blog, where he shares all kinds of neat D&D resources for Dungeon Masters. He has some excellent item cards.

Inspired by these cards, I came up with the a card template for my own magic items. The cards have an accompanying back, which lists the adventure and has a place for the original owner to write their name and character name. I plan on using these for as certificates for any AL adventures I DM as well.

For anyone that would like to create their own versions, you can find blank versions of the cards here;

  • Blank card (poker, tarot)
  • Card front (poker, tarot)
  • Card back version 1 (poker, tarot)
  • Card back version 2 (poker, tarot)

The templates above are all licensed under CC-BY-4.0, so feel free to use them however you like. They were created with the following resources (all either public domain, licensed for reuse or licensed for non-commercial personal use);

  • Parchment texture – Thomas Hebert
  • ‘Enchanted Land’ font – Sharkshock
  • d10 – yves_guillou
  • ‘Noteworthy’ font, supplied with macOS.

And if you’re wondering how Scavo’s own magic items turned out, here’s a peek at them.

Update: After some feedback from David Flor (@BrainClouds), I decided to create more standard sizes for the card templates. All the templates are now available in poker and tarot sizes, for easy printing at your local games printer!

The magic bynny

It looked into her eyes with big, gleaming emerald green eyes, and suddenly, Lily felt an unspoken connection with the little creature. As the days passed, Lily found herself spending more and more time with the magical bunny. She named it Sparkle, after its radiant fur, and together they formed an unbreakable bond. Sparkle seemed to possess an otherworldly intelligence, and Lily soon discovered that it had special powers. Sparkle could communicate with Lily through a series of twinkles and gestures. It could make objects levitate, create dazzling illusions, and even bring objects to life. Lily's village quickly became aware of the bunny's extraordinary abilities, and they marveled at the magic it possessed. Word of the magical bunny spread far and wide, and soon people from all corners of the world traveled to Lily's village to witness the wonder for themselves. However, Sparkle would only perform its remarkable tricks for Lily and shy away from any others who attempted to interact with it. It seemed reserved exclusively for Lily's companionship. As time went on, Lily and Sparkle's bond grew stronger, and they became inseparable. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, using Sparkle's magic to help others and bring joy to the world. Sparkle's powers brought light to the darkest of places and ignited hope in the hearts of those who crossed their paths. However, every spellbinding tale has its end, and so it was for Lily and Sparkle. One fateful day, as the winds whispered secrets through the forest, Sparkle disappeared. Lily looked far and wide for her beloved bunny but found no trace of it. Her heart sank, and she felt an emptiness she had never known before. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Lily's village mourned the loss of Sparkle, but Lily held onto a glimmer of hope. She knew in her heart that their bond was too strong to be broken forever. And she was right. One morning, as the sun painted the sky with hues of gold and pink, Sparkle returned to Lily. It seemed to have grown big and strong, but its essence remained unchanged. Together, they continued their magical adventures, bringing joy and wonder to all they encountered. From that day on, Lily and Sparkle reminded the world that magic exists in the most unexpected places and can touch the lives of those willing to believe. The tale of the magical bunny was one that would be whispered throughout generations, a testament to the power of love, friendship, and the enchantment that hides within even the smallest of creatures..
