Local witches to gather for Halloween Festival on Center Street

LOGAN – City officials here are inviting all local witches to the Center Street Witches Dance and Halloween Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28.

That event is slated from noon to midnight, with activities for kids and adults of all ages.

The day’s events will begin with trick-or-treating on Center Street starting at 12 p.m.

The city will also host Halloween Arts and Crafts activities starting at 2 p.m. and lasting until supplies run out.

Local food trucks with be on-hand with food and beverages, starting at 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Ping-Pong and Cornhole tournaments will begin at 3 p.m. To register in advance for those events, go online to https://loganutah.activityreg.com

A Halloween Costume Contest will be held at 4 p.m. with prizes for the best costume.

The “I Spy Quest” treasure hunt with prizes will follow at 4:30 p.m. Participants are invited to pick-up game cards at the city’s information booth.

The “Afu Fighters” will provide music and street dancing from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Check-in for the “Bring Your Own Decorated Pumpkin” contest with prizes will begin at 5 p.m. at the city’s information booth, with winners to be announced at 5:30 p.m.

The highlight of the evening’s activities will be the Center Street Witches Dance at 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The Witches Dance, with dozens of local women dressed as high-fashion sorceresses, began several years ago in the residential neighborhood on West Center Street.

That tradition began after local women saw a viral video of a similar event in Germany.

In 2021, city officials coaxed the witches to move that event a few blocks east to become a part of the Halloween celebration on Center Street in the downtown area.

After a long day, the Center Street celebration will move into the nearby Utah Theatre, which will provide a free screening of Monsters, Inc at 8 p.m. for the small kids and the Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight for the big kids.

The one, the only Rocky Horror Picture Show is an audience participation event that gets both rowdy and messy.

The theater’s management will provide the traditional Rocky Horror props along with tickets, for a nominal fee of $20. No outside props will be allowed.
