Embracing the Strange: The Eclectic World of Eco-based Magic

By admin

Strange Magic Eko is a term that refers to a phenomenon in nature where certain types of music or sounds have a profound effect on the environment and the creatures living within it. Some people believe that these sounds possess a magical quality that can have significant, often unexplainable, impacts on the natural world. The concept of Strange Magic Eko is deeply rooted in traditional folklore and legends from various cultures around the world. According to these tales, specific sound frequencies and melodies can unlock hidden energies in nature and create astonishing, sometimes supernatural, phenomena. The term "Eko" is commonly used to describe an acoustic echo or reverberation, suggesting that this phenomenon involves the manipulation and amplification of sounds in specific spaces or environments. These spaces are often considered sacred or spiritually significant, enhancing the magical qualities of the music or sounds produced within them.

[Kobold Press] Deep Magic—300 new Pathfinder spells and more!

If you at all have an interest in magic or Kobold Press, check out this Kickstarter for KP's Deep Magic project. This is a massive hardcover tome of more than 300 spells, at least a dozen new magic schools and styles, a grouping of runes, glyphs, and incantations, new mythic spells, and new casting archetypes, all for Pathfinder RPG. It is an AWESOME project.

The cool thing about this one is that the majority of the design, editing, and development is done. And there are a ton of fantastic backer rewards, from getting your name in the book to designing a spell to be included in it to getting a leather-bound copy to getting an illuminated, gold-leafed scroll of any spell of your choice.

But don't take my word for it -- check out the Deep Magic project page!

Yeah, this one got me. I'm in.

I have been an "Uncle Kobold" for a long time now. There is no way I couldn't consider this, and after a good look, I am in!

I am pleased that development on this project is front loaded (meaning the work is mostly done), so timely release is assured.

It is also affordable. A modest donation gets the PDF and all the stretch goal additions, which I hope there are many.

Yeah, I think this one is going to be BIG! The Kickstarter has only been live for a few hours and already it has over 100 backers and it's 2/3 of the way to the funding goal! That's pretty fantastic! Heck, most folks on the West Coast haven't even logged onto their computers yet :)

The reeeaaaally exciting thing is going to be once that funding goal is reached and the stretch goals start to be released - i.e. the Goal Scroll starts to unfurl :) Trust me, there are lots of REALLY AWESOME stretch goals on that Goal Scroll.

My money, my poor money .

Oh god my Brain is going to explode learning even more Spells. My poor GM Brain!

So the mythic spells are the mythic version of KP spells?

Not some sort of new spell category, like Eberron's artifact spells?

I would assume they are to integrate and compliment Paizo's Mythic Rules, which also contains mythic spells (but primarily well known spells from the Core Rules).

Just $490 away from being Funded.

BTW I am in, too.

Wolfgang Baur Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge Jun 10, 2013, 11:25 am

Jim has it right, they are to integrate and complement Paizo's Mythic Adventures rules.

It's one of the types of variant magic I really, really like, and Kobold Press will give that style of spellcasting full support. More details on this in a future update at the Deep Magic Kickstarter.

Yep, the mythic spells are designed using Paizo's new mythic rules. Essentially, we've included mythic versions of some of the spells Kobold Press has published in the past as well as all-new spells that have mythic and greater mythic components.

EDIT: Ninja'd by the overlord! :D

Oh no! I meant no disrespect, Sir Overlord. Please do not feed me to the kobold hordes. :D

So, yeah, looks like we're making this one bigger. :D

EDIT: And poof! We're funded!

I can't wait until folks see the AWESOME new art for this book! You can see portions of two pieces on the Kickstarter page of course, but . man, the rest of the art is so cool :)

Jim Groves Contributor, RPG Superstar 2010 Top 4 Jun 10, 2013, 12:08 pm

85 to go! You best have a stretch goal ready today Wolfgang! If not, we're sending you to the Mines!

Wow! Fully funded on the very first day! Within just a few hours even - that's pretty awesome.

Now . the Goal Scroll (I love that name, by the way) starts to unfurl . :)

I am totally gobsmacked and delighted to announce we're fully funded in SIX HOURS!

That is crazy AWESOME. I am so very, very, very glad that we prepped the stretch goals "for later in the week or whenever we fund" ahead of time. And those first two goals are by game designers who have amazing, amazing track records.

The Deep Magic Kickstarter is off to a roaring start.

Jim Groves Contributor, RPG Superstar 2010 Top 4 Jun 10, 2013, 01:25 pm

ABsolutely incredible.. 45 minutes ago you had roughly $2,000 to your first stretch goal.

As of this writing you have less than 800 to go before Tim Connor's Dimension warping is locked in.

I have another question, did you have access to a final version of the Mythic Rules or are the mythic spells you are making based on the playtest?

First stretch goal reached in record time!

The next stretch goal is Labyrinth Magic written by none other than Mr. Jason Bulmahn himself!

Next after that is Battle Magic of Valkyries and Shield Maidens written by RPG legend Ed Greenwood.

This is gonna be one AWESOME book!

Jim Groves Contributor, RPG Superstar 2010 Top 4 Jun 10, 2013, 05:31 pm

$23 bucks until we put Jason Bulmahn to work!

Well, that certainly went fast.

The first three writer stretch goals are happening very fast indeed. But a big beautiful book of magic is also going to need awesome art!

The next stretch goal announced will commission 10 more full-color pieces, by some artists we could not quite afford without the help. I hope to share some additional sample art soon.

Excellent. I'm in!

Are international shipping charges included? I didnt see any mention of it when I pledged or on the first page.

Wolfgang Baur Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge Jun 10, 2013, 07:11 pm

US shipping is included for all tiers (no extra charge). International shipping is included for a few tiers, though mostly just the bigger rewards.

Thank you for pledging! The first three stretch goals are all funded, and we're closing in on the next one.

I think this just jumped up $2k in the last two hours. Huh. I guess people really like these spell-things.

Good going Kobold Press - excellent choice for a Kickstarter!

*Intentionally fails will save* OK, I'm in! This is gonna be very cool!

Any details about the custom spellbooks (presumably a small paperback pamphlet (?), but things like what the cover art will be, format, etcetera) or the illuminated scrolls (like how big are they, for example)?

Huh, guys? Is it me or the pledge is almost twice the amount asked?

Sure, roughly speaking, the custom spellbooks are planned as softcover or selfcover format (depending on printer and what seems to work). There's no cover art for them beyond your wizard's mark and the title in an appropriate style. Interior page treatment can be either pure white with a rune or two, or it can follow the Deep Magic page treatment (which you can see in rough form on the Kickstarter page).

These spellbooks can make a good personalized reference for your own character, or they make an awesome handout to a wizard PC: "You find this spellbook; here you go."

The illuminated scrolls will be at least 8.5 by 11 inches, and (if you choose a long and wordy spell) possibly 11 by 17 or 8.5 by 22. You might need to roll it up, in other words. The calligraphy will be done by someone who teaches calligraphy in Seattle and has done hundreds of professional jobs, from straightforward wedding invites to art pieces, logos, and Biblical quotes. She does three hands that work for this sort of thing: a Carolingian miniscule, a slanted Gothic, and a copperplate.

The dragon's blood ink and gold leaf are for accents; the wax seal is one I have that works well, and I have a somewhat flexible, modern wax that won't crack and fall off. We might not use oak gall for the black because of how acidic it is (usually better for vellum). Paper likely to be a heavy cream stock that takes ink cleanly; I'm really leaving that up to the calligrapher, because the wrong paper makes the work a chore.

Can you tell I am married to a calligrapher? :)

There are several spells that are just strictly less or more powerful/useful versions of PHB spells, but with sprockets or whatever.
Strange magic eko

These experiences are typically attributed to the resonance and vibrations generated by certain types of music or sounds. Many ancient cultures, such as the Native Americans and the Aboriginal peoples of Australia, have long understood and revered the power of sound. They have incorporated music and chanting into their spiritual practices, believing that these sonic vibrations can connect them to the natural world and the spirits that dwell within it. In modern times, the concept of Strange Magic Eko has gained renewed interest, particularly with the rise of sound therapy and the exploration of the healing powers of sound. Scientists and researchers are beginning to study the effects of different sound frequencies on human health and well-being, as well as on the environment. While some dismiss Strange Magic Eko as mere superstition, others believe that there is more to it than meets the eye. They argue that there is much we don't understand about the natural world and the invisible forces that shape it, and that Strange Magic Eko may be a glimpse into these hidden realms. In conclusion, Strange Magic Eko is a captivating concept that explores the interconnectedness of music, sound, and the natural world. Whether it is just a product of folklore or a genuine force that can shape our environment, it remains an intriguing subject that invites further exploration and investigation..

Reviews for "The Art of Strange Magic: Creative Interpretations of Eco-based Sorcery"

1. John - 2 out of 5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Strange magic eko". The plot was incredibly confusing and hard to follow. I couldn't connect with any of the characters, as they were all one-dimensional and lacking depth. The animation was also subpar, with unrealistic movements and unimpressive visuals. Overall, I found the film to be uninspiring and a waste of time.
2. Sarah - 1 out of 5 stars - "Strange magic eko" fell short in every aspect. The storyline was cliché and predictable, lacking any originality. The characters were poorly developed and lacked any relatability. The animation was also mediocre, with choppy movements and unmemorable visuals. The musical numbers were forced and did not add any value to the already weak plot. I was thoroughly disappointed and would not recommend this film.
3. David - 2 out of 5 stars - I had high hopes for "Strange magic eko", but it left me disappointed. The plot was all over the place, and it seemed like the filmmakers tried to include too many elements without properly exploring any of them. The characters were forgettable, and their motivations were unclear. The animation quality was decent but not groundbreaking. Overall, this film failed to captivate me and left me feeling confused and underwhelmed.
4. Emily - 2 out of 5 stars - "Strange magic eko" was a forgettable movie experience for me. The plot lacked coherence and failed to engage me from the start. The characters felt like cookie-cutter stereotypes, and their interactions felt forced and unrealistic. The animation was average at best, with nothing visually stunning to offer. The pacing was off, with moments that dragged on and others that felt rushed. Overall, this film didn't leave any lasting impact and is easily forgettable among other animated movies.
