Additionally, the mascot does not accurately represent the diverse student body and community of SDSU. It would be more appropriate for the university to choose a mascot that reflects the values of inclusivity and diversity that it claims to uphold.

There are countless other mascot options available that do not rely on appropriating cultures and demeaning marginalized groups.
