How to charge your items

I don't see many tutorials for beginners on charging, so I've decided to make one now that I've learned how to do it myself. If you know a better way, feel free to share in the comments.

Hold your item in your hands, I like to hold it directly in front of my chest or by my heart. Close your eyes and imagine energy flowing from your core to your fingertips and into your item. I generally imagine white light for this, you can use any form to imagine your energy. Make sure that you do this before you seal your spell.

My second method is charging something so that thing can charge your other items. The idea is to create an item that gathers energy from the world, so use that intention when you're enchanting it. (I enchant things by charging them with a strong intention, then rubbing herbs on it. Usually there's more to it, but this is a post on charging. If you want one on enchanting items, let me know in the comments). I usually imagine a tree for this kind of intention, they gather the energy from the light around them and water from the ground, but they don't take too much to be harmful. That kind of symbolism is perfect for this. So enchant something you can turn on and off (I almost exclusively use music boxes for this. You can use a snowglobe if you'd like, you can use an hourglass, anything that you can activate) and while it's running, the item you're connecting it to is being charged. Use this for low energy days only, as the charging item needs time to accumulate energy. I use mine only for special occasions, but if you put a lot of energy into it, I assume it would work for frequent use.

For those of us who have poor visualization skills, or simply no 'minds eye', I made a way for you to charge your items. While you hold your item, focus on the way it feels on your skin, focus on your heart beating and think of your heart as pumping energy through your system, including your fingertips. You don't need to visualize the energy, just try to focus on your heart beating, on the texture of the object, and the feeling of the energy going through you. I've also had some success with dancing, so cast a circle (if that's a part of your practice) and dance inside it, it doesn't have to be pretty, it doesn't have to have a ton of music, just do it until you're tired, and you've created energy, energy that you can focus on and put into your item.

Finally, we have the crystals and moon method that almost everyone knows well. Just put your item with crystals that have been charged by the moon, or under the moons light, and let it charge like that. I've found that this method feels less powerful, but if it works for you then feel free to try it and use it.
